Model me a fan...
Is there anyone out there who can make models that would be willing to model me a fan? I'm looking for something like this:
It doesn't have to be exactly the same (you can take some creative lisence) but it should be 96 units in diameter (hammer units. I'm not sure how they relate to the units in other modelling programs) I offer my first born son in compensation for anyone willing to do this |

There is a bigass fan in Nova Prospekt that looks similar. Dunno if you've tried it or not though.

Looks fairly easy to model. I'd do it, but I'm pretty busy w/ school right now, so you'd have to wait a bit
Plus, of course, I've got to figure out this whole getting shit into the HL2 engine thing |

you can use any content from hl2 and its mods, as long as you're making a map for hl2 or one of its mods. the content remains the property of valve, so it's not like it's stealing.

well, thats a really simple model would take five minutes to model, uvmap, and if you had that picture in a better res, skin.
if you can get that in a better res, ill do it all for you this weekend, if not, ill need more time for the skin part ill try and do it for ya this weekend, we will see edit: looking at it again, i can do ya a pretty good skin and it wouldnt take too long. will the fan be spinning or stationary? or spinning slowly? |

I don't have a better picture of the fan, unfortunately. It's just a random picture from a google image search.
The fan should be a static prop. I'd use it with a prop_dynamic and parent it to a func_rotating to get it to move. |

it looks nicer if you use a prop_physics and tie it to a motor, if an explosion or somthing hit it, it wil slow down a little and then accelerate back to full speed :d |

If there was some sort of subway tunnel under Bellevue I'd make a joke about that.

why can't i post a pic?
http://www.quantum-physics.co.uk/images/testfan.jpg there's some sort of bug with studiomdl.exe atm, so i'm not changing it back to a staticprop after the hassle of making it work as a physprop. take the 3fps hit :P http://www.quantum-physics.co.uk/files/bits.zip all of the files in the .zip should be two folders deep in your models folder, ie; models/fishy/bits, where they were born, or models/nez/mapname or whatever. it's to keep the (default hl2) texture relative to the model. |
