Bug Maybe? And server question.
#1 I changed video options->advanced->enabled anisotropic 4x and experienced a crash upon trying to join a server(the one labeled beta forget the full name).
Crashed with something about a dxd9 unloader or something, so I restarted and changed anisotropic 4x back to trilinear, joined same server no crash but also noone there even though the server browser showed 9 people. I also noticed in the log something about bin/client.dll being a different version? Do I need to update source SDK again or something? Fresh install? [EDIT] The dxd9 crash appears to be the same as in this thread IIRC: http://forums.fortress-forever.com/s...ad.php?t=24708 I don't think that it's corrupt though as see above, just changing filtering method appeared to fix, but I suppose that I should try turning on anisotropic again and see if I get a crash again, then replace that .dll... [/EDIT] |
Well double posting ...
Anyways, just tried again with anisotropic 4x and it worked. I also note in the console that it's not correctly detecting system memory as it only list 4095MB instead of 64GB. Source engine limitation? I picked soldier and it complained couldn't exec soldier.cfg (IIRC) Again beta server showed 8 players, but there were none when I logged in... [EDIT] For the hell of it ran HL2 which ran fine... Also CPU clock is also detected a bit off @ 4043MHz instead of ~4170MHz... I'm going to guess that these are Source engine approximations/limitations as I also note that it doesn't distinguish between physical CPU cores and virtual, i.e. lists 12 core detected. (3930k) [/EDIT] |
Just about any time you change your video settings before or after joining a server you will experience a crash. I always have to open ff, set video options, close ff, then relaunch. This is something I have to do any time I want to turn up the graphics to record clips, as I play on the lowest settings.
