Missing Models & Textures... Unplayable?
Hi guys, I'm trying to seek a solution to my Fortress Forever problem. No matter which map I join(some worse than others) or what graphical settings I use, my maps are missing models and textures, leaving me with just a blur of white polygonal lines outlining the models. Some maps are playable, but still missing certain things, yet others are unplayable cause I can't see any textures.
I should add that I first tried installing 2.0 FULL, then re-installed it. I then tried installing from the 1.0 and updating to 2.0 and they all have the same problem. All other source games I play play perfect, along with non-source games. Here are some screenshots for example that I took: Any help is highly appreciated, thanks. |

I would completely uninstall FF and make sure every single file is gone from my sourcemods folder then do a fresh 2.0 FULL install. |

Try installing the 2.0 full zip file instead, maybe the installer is corrupted

Well I tried the zip one and it produces the same problem... I do not understand why all other source games look fine and this not... I will try using an older driver set for the 9800GTX. I'm currently on current version, see if that helps. So far no settings in the game have any effect on the issues at hand.

Try "mat_dxlevel 80" in console just for the hell of it.
It really seems like your installs are just not installing the textures at all, but that doesn't make any sense. |

Is this on a regular server or your own made through the game?
It looks like the cheat command to show wire frames is on.

Matt has a good point but at the same time I thought you couldn't even play FF without HL2/HL2DM. It does seem that all the FF custom textures are there though and the HL2 ones are not...

I zipped down my Fortress Forever/materials folder. Try checking the file size and see if there is a big difference or just overwrite your materials folder with this one.FF_materials.zip
and just for kicks try this link. It's a steam tool that checks your system for conflicts with steam. I know you said all other steam games works fine but it might find something. It also tells you how to set the DX level in your launch options like -dxlevel 8 or some shit. so it automatically launchs in that dx level. steam://support/?Issues=*

I went into console while in a map that has broken textures all over the place(crossover) and the console is going nuts with errors like this:
"Material models/props_lab/walllight_sheet is being applied to a model, you need $model=1 in the .vmt file! Material models/props_lab/walllight_sheet is being applied to a model, you need $model=1 in the .vmt file!
