Why does FF run so poorly?
AMD Athlon 64 3500+ @ 2.2GHz
NVIDIA Geforce 7800GT 2 GGB RAM XP SP2 All drivers updated, virus cleaned, spyware cleaned, OS completely updated. I run in 800x600 with every single setting as low as it can go, and I'm lucky to break 40FPS if there's at least 1 other player on screen. I'm consistently at 20FPS. I think I really like this game but for me it borders on unplayability. |

Sounds like your setup or drivers are messed up. I can't think of any other reason.
I'm running a similar setup (opteron @ 2.6Ghz, 6800GT & 2 gigs) and I get good performance when playing all maps but monkey. Plus I play at 1600x1200 & high quality. |

Hmm... strange. I have:
Athlon 64 3200+ 7800 GS 1 gig of ram Win 2k I run everything at highest quality, 1280x1024 and I get 50-100fps almost all the time. Are you using the dx9 hardware selection for video?

My set-up is:
AMD Barton 2500 @ 3200 7800GS (AGP) 2GB PC3200 XP SP2 And my performance is quite low too :/, could have sworn I played through HL2 at max settings (With AA & AF too) with good fps as well. Might be time for an uninstall and install of best drivers for the GFX card! |

mirage... i am pretty sure its your barton that is slowing you down!

I reformatted today. Reinstalled everything, got all the newest drivers.
Didn't gain 1 FPS. The only thing that is making this game even remotely playable for me right now if the FPS config someone posted. |

choke
Hi guys..first off fab game..i've not been a member of the forums but have followed the dev of the game from afar
anyway.. system specs cpu:c2d 6400 @ stock mem:2gb ballistix gfx:7900gs (the boss (wife) says i have to wait for..santa!!) os: xp pro sp2 display drivers: 6.14.11.6218.. dx running 9.0c net connection:Virgin 20Mbit basically i get great fps +170 (AA and AF maxed)in closed areas down to 60+ in open heavy fighting areas so okay there i think....i get massive choke.. 80+ sometimes. other people seem to move at like 5 - 10 fps..while the rest of the map + me seem ultra smooth..very strange..lol i've seen a few posts of some rate/cl_updaterate setting but not really sure i grasp it..lol (feel stupid).. any help would be great |

I got HUGE fps problems,
Pentuim D 805 clocked at 2.99ghz (normal 2.66) +-533 FSB Nvidia geforce 8600 GTS 1g DDR running at 400mhs I need to run on 800x600 for it to be playable. In 800x600 my fps is in range of 25 to 75 |

Askadaffer: looks like you have anti-aliasing on, and that doesn't look like coverage samble (CS) anti-aliasing either. If you set it to 16xQ you're running 16x supersampling with transparency anti-aliasing, that's enough to bring a GTX to it's knees.
Ramono: your problem is because the 8600 series is utter shit and performs on par with or worse than my old 6600gt. For either of you I would suggest checking the nvidia control panel's 3d settings area and making sure you are set to "single display performance" mode. I've heard of that causing massive framerate hits before. |

The odd thing is that whever i put anti-aliasing to MAX or keep it on none, my FPS doesn't change at all.
That is why i doubt the problem is my video card, it could as well be my budget motherboard. even tho i see a improvement in my graphics Last edited by Ramono; 09-15-2007 at 08:41 PM. |

unless im mistaken, anti-aliasing does not take a lot to run.
