Gamma Settings Not staying

I dont know if im the only one, but FF is dark for me, and my v/c settings won't apply ingame unless its d3d. I use the gamma setting in the menu all the way up, which i think is 1.6 (def. 2.2).

I was wondering what the cvar was for that? The only thing i found was r_gamma - its set @ .005 and changing it doesnt do shit; So i need the cvar so i can add it to autoexec - ff does not save your settings for gamma (maybe just me) and im tired of having to adjust it every time i load up the game.

Any Clues?
