Map differs from server version

I use a fast dowl server, so i have to upload all twice, to the server than to the dowload server. And sometimes when we try new maps, 10 players can dowload the map without problems, but everytime one guy can t dowload it properly cuse it says the map version differs.. the solutions its usually going to c:\steam\steamaos\sourcemodes\FF\maps and erasing the map and dowloading it again wich sometimes work and others not..

Usually when you are getting that map differs from yours message it means that the server is set to sv_allowdown/uploads 0 and not letting the player download at all. Is anything like the server.cfg or anything being changed between the players that are downloading it and the one that can't?

I have all the cfg´s well configured to allow dowload, cuse i always upload the maps to the server then i dowload from it to test. I´m suspicious that the problem its map related, cuse it don´t happen with the official maps. But maps like ff_wellfortress, ff_pitfall, ff_banderas, ff_mirrobi, ff_plasma_b1 , ff_speedy_b1 etc tends to, dunno why. And if the player erased the map from his pc, and then dowload it again it works for most of the times.. don't understand whats happening..

yeah...that's really odd. Are you sure you have your fast dl configured correctly?

I was getting that error on my server and I just found out I was using the wrong directory for the Fast DL...

I have ran into this issue where it's a steam problem not reading the files correctly and it being client side. Let me see if I can dig up which file to delete to fix the issue. I don't believe it is FF specific being how I ran into the same issue with HL2 DM. map was working fine and out of nowhere map differs from server error.

This happened to me once, downloading ff_dropdown from the [AE] server.

One of you guys sent it to me and that remedied the issue. Still weird though.

same problem, one in 1o guys average have this problem.. map version difers.. and u could have dowl the map in that same instant from the game server lolz

Have them check their config.cfg and check this line "cl_allowdownload 1". They might have been changing shit.

no lol, i have that right and hapens to me too, the only way of fixing it its to erase the map form ur pc, and dowloading it again from the server. Strange

This isn't in the server.cfg it is in the client config.cfg. But it could be a map issue or an issue with band with maybe on your Fast DL server. Maybe to many people trying to DL at one time.

That's strange. Is it on all maps or random maybe there is a couple versions with the same name. It's hard to say.

no lol, and yes its strange, it hapened once when i upload a map to the server, then i join it, it says map version difers and i dindt had the map on my pc

so i went to my pc erase the part of the map i had dowloaded , joined the server again and it was ok-- this hapens to a lot of plp

theres some maps that this hapen more than other
like pitfall/runoff/speedy etc

Maybe your Fast DL connection is timing out so you only get partial DL? next time it does it to you check the file size before deleting and check with the server file to see if same size.
