IMO, as opposed to developing new content for free like they have been on PC for years, they've decided to start cashing in on console success.

It really should be DLC for the original game. But I believe they're trying to up the graphics a bit and make some money from the console sales. Yet I don't see much different in this than the original game besides aesthetics - things they could add to L4D without charging $50.
Who knows though, maybe that is what they're intending and are marketing it as L4D2 to get more press and sales while throwing a cheaper price tag on it for owners of the rest of the series. |

I dunno, sounds like a decently-sized expansion to me. And, besides, Valve doesn't owe anyone free DLC, and never has. |

Wait a second... Valve is doing work and expecting to get paid for it? Outrageous.

That doesn't seem like it's worth a whole new game though, it's definitely DLC size, expansion at best; but not sequel.
Never said they owed anyone anything, but it's been proven that VALVe has a track record of handing out more content to their products for free for many years without issue. The sudden change however is what is surprising. |

There have been DLC packs released by many developers with more than just 5 chapters and a few characters/models. Some of which are free, others you gotta pay for. It depends on what game, developer, and platform your looking at.

Sounds like a new game to me. But, I guess the proper response is to be cranky about it.
It's not like an engine tweak or a few new maps. Hell, it's even bigger than adding shit to TF2. |
