FF_Well
I remember well as being a stalemate map dominated by snipers especially since there was only one main exit out of the base. With the addition exits on FF_well do you think this will still be the case? If not is that a bad thing?

Concjumping fun is what it is.
There are nice little niches for snipers to hide in but all of them are accessable to a decent player with good aim or a good player with decent aim. |

Hmm, I never remembered Well to be dominated by snipers. Not really worse than 2fort, anyway. The side exits are great, however, to avoid the inevitable front-door spam. And, like Lost said, you can basically conc jump right from the ledge to the enemy door

I love the fact that the stupid front door and the button are gone !! and that looks like a lot of entry points to the base aha

I assume you mean in pubs. Honestly I never found well to be dominated by snipers because often times a spy just sneaks into the enemy base and starts carving their snipers up on the middle deck, and as anybody knows being a sniper on your own roof is quite difficult when there are enemy snipers.
However I like the new doors because it prevents being getting killed w/ the flag outside your own base because you couldn't hit the button in time and it also will stop the rare but annoying event where the enemy team sets up shop w/ SGs galore on your own roof and you can't even get out of the base. |

Damn that seems pretty harsh.
Obviously I havn't played FF_well version yet, but I can say that the whole thing about the maps in TFC was that they was different. A bad team could hold Well together very well, as opposed to another map .. even 2Fort(very narrow entrances to FR areas). I very much liked the differences in maps, ie Openfire was about offence concing/attack variances, defence was being spread thin but holding it together. Not that I'm saying I dont want change in a map like Well but having a balcony to conc from, just seems to take away what was the essance of well - in my opinion. Naive view admittedly from someone that hasnt played this version. Even if theres other tight areas to make up for the second entrance. [EDIT] WTF at my post count? Those side exits are attached to the left and right spawns. They aren't entry points. Err, right now they are, since they're not blocked from enemies yet, but they won't be entrances

I wouldn't worry about the corrections that are being made to the maps. Some people will like, others they won't. Sooner or later someone will start making "ff_classic_well" and other TFC maps that are straight ports... so one way or another you'll get to play it.

Personally, I always liked well's front door choke point. The r~ guys used to go onto jolt well 24/7 an then try to lock the enemy team in their own base using two snipers, two HWs and maybe a demo or two, then we'd storm the attic and rain a constantly spam storm down to the respawns.
Nobody else enjoyed it? Just me then. |

2fort is stale. Not so much the layout more the size, 2small. On the otherhand Defrag's^? 2kfort4 was such an improvemnt The only problem I have with well (in TFC) is opponents messing around in your attic, especially if it's a quiet game. What's the lift situation in that area actually? because they and the delay is very annoying in TFC.

I think more enterences at the front of well all still going to a (few) choke points would be good since the one door was not alot of fun for offence especially when the opposition has two sgs and a soldier.
In that case demo spam with mirvs is the only way to get through even then its darn hard since the soldiers are DMing you in the process. This makes for pritty lousy gameplay on pubs. The water is the only real way to attack on well and conc to the flag from there. Would it be reasonable to have say 2 enterences for offence on the front of the base? |

there's been two offy exits for a while. the problem is it's so narrow it's a hive for enemy sniper fire, but then the snipers have three entrances to cover now instead of one, so it balances i guess?

Question, after looking over some of the new layouts and ideas for the new sexy ff_well and recently playing well_now_b1 , i started to noticed a couple similarities in a couple areas on each. Was it coincidence that the 2 are similar in design or was it intentionally modeled from well_now_b1?
