Speaking it, there's no other way. Studying from a book is retarded. I've never opened an english learning book, I've just been speking it over the INTERNETS and I think my english is quite good, isn't it?

Hablándolo, no hay otra manera. Estudiarlo con un libro es de retrasados. Nunca he abierto un libro de aprendizaje del inglés, me he limitado a hablarlo por los INTERNESES y creo que mi inglés no está nada mal, ¿o no?

Wow, that's quality language education right there.

The test should be entirely spoken.

Was this one of those quarter long "Exploratory" classes? You should be just fine, they won't hold you back from high school if you don't ace it. But find someone else in the class to read back and forth with. And for the love of god get your vowels pronounced right, or else you deserve to fail.

Uhh, I'm not sure what you mean by 'studying from a book' exactly, but basing your foreign language education solely on speaking is generally not a good idea. It helps a great deal to understand how the language functions and how words are written in order to memorize and pronounce them correctly. This and other aspects of a language are not directly covered by normal speech. And I'm sure you have studied some english in school, I think you did a little more than just talking during those classes. You've also without doubt read, listened, and watched media presented in the english language. Had you only based your english on what you picked up from IRC convo's you wouldn't be nearly as articulate.

I believe he means learning how to speak and pronounce words properly. It's hard to put down on paper how to pronounce つ properly, for example. In fact, it seems we English speakers can't ever get our foreign vowels right. Everytime I hear one of my friends say "es mio" as "ess-my-oh" instead of "ays-mee-oh", I want to kill someone.

PS Thanks Skanky.

I lol'd at Turbo's post, but I know what he means. I've learned more English thanks to Internet than studying it at school. In fact, I never prepared tests and always had 8/10+ grades, because I knew more than I was supposed to at that grade.

And of course, everyone learns different. In our Tang Soo Do dojang, if you've got 10 people, there are 11 different ways to teach them.

But really, you're in 8th grade Spanish... all you need is a handful of verbs and nouns.
