Beta Testing Protocol

Just wondering how the beta testing opportunities will be handed out? Will this be a random thing, or to the top 50% forum posters, or to people personally acquainted with the Mod devlopment team? Possibly even a first come first serve sign-up thing on the website?

I would suggest the best thing to do would be to get people to sign up through a form that acquires info regarding people's interest in the mod, their previous experience(s), and the PC they're going to be using. Then a more accurate sample representing all/most types of future FF players could be used.

e.g.

- newcomers to tf-style games (to test out the 'newbie friendly' theme running through this Mod)
- Old-school tf players (to see how the feel relates to the old tfc)
- People with crap computers (i.e. me ) to see if this type of high-speed gameplay on the source engine will perform well enough for all to play
- 'Experienced' players etc (to see how all this bunnyhopping and expert moves malarky pans out)

i'm sure you get the picture.... i'm not feeling very literate today i cant focus properly on the screen!!

thanks
Duncan

You're going to be responsible for some major forum spamming even suggesting that :P.

I think the two most important things you need to be a beta tester are:

TIME (It take a lot of that and generally more than people realize)

and

INTELIGENCE (It takes more of this than most people have to realize how much of it you need) :P everything else is secondary imo.

For instance, knowing how to spell "intelligence" helps

I think it should be whoever begs the most.

It should be based on a similar style to the Erdös number system relative to something in the online world. Not just TF, but other games. After all attracting new players is a big thing, so seeing how people can take to the game would be important?

That or involment in the community, intelligence and understanding of Mathematics and ADA83/95.

Our Beta testing programme will need to be carefully designed. Testers certainly cannot be drawn from one limited group. For instance if we tested on only old pro's well that could well result in a game not tailored or conducive to newbies. So yea its about getting the right balance, and we will release details when the time comes.

That all depends on how fast you can get to the top of our testing tree, Hard.

Is there any sort of prize at the top of the tree? I'll do it for silly putty.

what if you were to cut down the tree instead? You would still get the prize at the top, assuming you didn't smuther yourself.

I'm talking about sharing my experience on how to build and manage succesful testing protocols, not just play a game before everyone does..
