so how about that hal.dll
my computer is all of a sudden missing it and i have no clue what to do, when i get home i am going to do a system restore but thats all i can think of.
any ideas? |

i am sure that would work if i could log on to my computer it just shows a screen saying cannot be found blah blah blah, hopefully the system restore will atleast allow me to get on to my computer to do that

The dll for the Hardware Extraction Layer was a somewhat common failure in XP....assuming this is an XP error. You should be able to fix it as follows:
Boot from your XP Setup CD and enter the Recovery Console Run "Attrib -H -R -S C:\Boot.ini" Delete the C:\Boot.ini file Run "Bootcfg /Rebuild" Run "Fixboot" You should be good to go.
