Anyway to reduce choke..?

I've come back for FF/TF2. so far I'm loving it and it's very playable even on my dated graphics card, (9600XT) and 56k, but my main gripe is choke.. is there anyway to reduce it? In TFC I could play around with commands (cl_updaterate, cl_cmdrate, and rate) til I could find a happy medium. I usually ended up playing with 0 to 30 choke which was very manageable even on spambowl.

In FF however it's a constant 50-90, which is still playable but not that smooth, concing is a PITA and so is sniping, but i'm just trying to figure out a way to make it smoother.

And if there isn't a way to do that, is there perhaps a command or way to turn up client prediction so I won't notice? choppiness blows.

Also.. i'm fairly certain that the culprit for the most part is probably the 56k.. but anything I can do to make it smoother it til I can finally gtfo of this place would be awesome.

I used to play with 56k (some while ago) and had huge issues with choke. I assume it was just my shit that wasn't set up quite right, but I'm unsure, so don't dare to hope too much that there'll be a solution.

I played around with some of the things it was suggesting with no noticeable difference. I'm also noticing large lag spikes when ever I shoot, a door opens or near enemies, but this is on 22 player servers.

I then loaded up TFC so I could just compare and adjust and I can play that just fine. All it is probably is just that playing modern online FPS's with 56k has basically come to an end. I can still probably play in 16 person servers with a shitload of choke but other than that... bah.

FF and Source games in general probably just use a lot more bandwidth than TFC, CS 1.6, and NS.

So, yeah wonderful job on FF, it's wonderful and made me feel like a giddy noob again, keep up the good work and I look forward to updates and who knows, maybe a 56k/lag optimization will be put in?
