home entertainment help
I hope I can explain this properly..
I have a lcd hd tv but I think i'm out of video and audio "in" connectors on my tv. I currently have component cables from my wii going to my tv (3 jacks, i.e. red yellow white) I currently have hd component cables going from my cable converter to my tv (5 jacks total) Now I don't have any place to plug my dvd component cables (same as wii) into my tv.. I am not using a stereo tuner or any other audio piece as a bypass - my cable convertor box has no video and audio "in" jacks for me to route the dvd through there, if that was possible to begin with.. feel like a n00b as i think i'm missing something..feels like a need a component video out/in hub if such a thing exsists.. Thoughts? Thanks! |

Does the DVD player have components in?
Mine does but I'm not sure how standard that is.

just get splitter cables. it wont be great quality, but youre using composite plugs, so its not great quality anyway. worked well for me when i used to have to have my ps2 and dvd player hooked up to my 1 input VCR that was hooked up to my TV via coax cables. do it like this: of course thats the ghetto way of doing it. if you want to do it up right, id suggest a home theater receiver. theres a ton of them out there, so choosing the right one for your application is something youll need to think about (hopefully that article helps) |

they sell component switches under the name "video game selector switch".
This is a box with multiple inputs (Red/White/Yellow RCA), one output (Red/White/Yellow RCA), and a switch to toggle between inputs. edit: Got a VCR in a closet somewhere? Most models of VCRs have AUX inputs where you can run your video games through to your TV. For an added plus, you can record your console gaming to VHS, or to a TV tuner video card with DVR. |
