Scrolling textures
I looked on here and Google and snarkpit and couldnt find a tutorial on how to make scrolling textures. I knew that in HL1 you just put "scroll" at the beginning of the texture name and it would work if u set it to func_conveyor. If only it were that easy...anyway from what I've read I think it has something to do with the vmt file, but I have no experience with that. If you're wondering why I want this its b/c I'm going to make a stationary train map with scrolling background (everything else), like the opposite of Imbrifier's train map. Any help would be great.
edit: so i went to the SDK documentation and found the cs flowing water tutorial. So im gonna try to do the same thing with non-water things and see if it works. I dont see why it wouldnt. :P Last edited by Beetle; 04-11-2007 at 09:22 PM. |

yes and no. the terrain has to be almost straight so that the scrolling texture lookings like everything is moving rather than something moving over the moutain...idk how to explain it. I just need to think about how to make it more realistic. maybe ill go with a road instead of a train track.

You can use scrolling textures, then detail things (like bridge overpasses, signs, rocks, etc) on a track that travel past.
