Users can choose the maximum dimensions and the resize method to use.
Seconded, it doesn't do anything serverside, just inserts width and height tags. This would be good for the forums and wouldn't lag them any

Just download the ImageSizer extension for Firefox. Right click an image and scroll with your mouse wheel 'til it's the right size. Easy as shit.

Resizing like that makes the image look like ass, might as well just tell people to use thumbnails.

I see no downside to using thumbnails in 9/10 scenarios on these forums.

Especially mapping.

Couple things...

http://www.aha-soft.com/ahaview/bmp-to-jpg.htm converts pics enmass to a new extention.

Image Resizer
This PowerToy enables you to resize one or many image files with a right-click.

I downloaded this and at first didnt think anything kicked in... but I tested it out. I went to my picutres area where there was about 200 pictures where the default size is 3264 x 2448 (thanks to my camera settings). I selected all pics, right clicked, told it to shrink the size and BAM! they were all resized FOR me!

schweeeeet!

I dont use them because imageshack (which is what I think most people use for thumbs) takes for fudgking ever to load pics on most of my computers. So I just use tinypic, but they dont have a thumb feature
