Facebook - Promo Sponsorship

Hi all,

I have been creating and pushing content on the Fortress Forever Facebook page for a couple of weeks now. I truly believe it has played a key role in driving new players to the game.

I have seen some real success in boosting posts, which basically means paying to target people under a certain criteria. I have been targeting people on Facebook aged 18-35 in the US who like FPS or online games. The adverts come up in their Facebook feeds as a "sponsored ad". It costs roughly £1 target 500 gamers / potential new players.

What I would quite like to do is a '5 day boost' once a month to target new players to the game. Would anyone in the community be willing to donate? To ensure this money is being used I will post who donated and how much, when and what I am going to post on Facebook, and all results on this thread.

If we could put £50 a month together we could reach 100k gamers! It would be interesting if we could tie up number of FF downloads with the posts...developers?

Look forward to hearing your thoughts - below is an example post that was boosted.

Please donate by sending money on paypal to melissa_ryland@hotmail.com

Next boosted post 23rd May. Donators include:

................you?

Bully £20

Marketing is a major element if we want to increase the current playerbase. Also it's the best moment to do so since right now you get to find busy and full server at almost any time.

Personally nothing makes me want to play a certain game than a well made avi. I know it eats up a lot of time, but some short, but entertaining and action-packed clips could also help big time.

What about a short video that explains the competitive side of the game? what OvD and ctf is all about?

You're right Jack this is a crucial moment to the longevity of the game. People will only get into the game if they have others to play with. Things could drop off quickly if we don't act to continually encourage new players.

We need good content like videos and advertising asap. I just can't justify paying for this myself.

I'm on board on funding/donating for this and I know others have expressed it as well.

Now which site can we use, or do it through paypal for funding?

Thanks Geokill I was surprised no one has put their hand up yet. gofundme charges 5% on every transaction alone so I would rather do paypal.

I will put a paypal address on the main topic and will donate 25% of whatever the community puts together on a monthly basis.

If you send me some cash put your FF name so I can mention you on the forum.

Hi again all.

We are already seeing a slight slow down in numbers. Please do consider my offer to promote FF with Facebook boosts.

What other platforms could we use to advertise FF? Can we advertise directly via Steam?

I don't use facebook so don't know much about it, but keep up the good work!

Last time I checked the Steam group we had over 1000 members still. Not sure if it's been announced using that method.

Posting on current facebook and steam members is fine, but I think we need to reach out to new players more than we need to remind old ones we still exist.

Agree, but how best to do that? I know almost nothing about this kind of thing.

I'm responsible for a festival magazine at a summer festival in august and there's plenty of space I need to fill up with topics I can choose myself.

I'll put up a big commercial for FF as well and pimp it to the masses.

Although it's a small festival (approx 300-400ish).

As part of my duties with the school district I have to drive a bus, I could see about making a FF decal to put up in the bus. I hear a handful of students talking about steam and have engaged quite a few regarding. Granted they are a little younger than guys targeted audience, but still they would be new players none the less. AND if they like it, I'm sure they'll spread the word.

I'll create a pdf version for sure.
But don't expect too much - it's a dirty festival and the magazine only consists of a few pages (between 4-8 per issue). However there will be 3 different issues (FR night, SA noon and SA night). Could pimp FF in all of them.
