Of what I've done so far, Windows 7 actually worked very well in my VM.
However I gave it a BEEFY system with Dual Core 2.5GHz and 2GB of Ram.
I wish I could give it more ram, but VMware Server 2 prealocate Ram which makes it a PAIN IN THE ASS to run high-ram VMs. Plus, VMware Server for Windows is only 32-bit. So while it can run 64-bit guest OSs, it can't use more then 3GB total :-\

With Word, Excel, Powerpoint, VMware Tools, Firefox, and Flash installed, it takes up 11.9GB. Since all those programs are small, guess at just about that size for a full install.

The virtual drive I gave it has 24GB. I wouldn't give it less then about 20 if you plan on testing software.

I'm downloading the 64bit version now. I'll fiddle with it tomorrow, I'm not bothering to install anything tonight.

Sooooo..

64-bit version is about 15 gigs once installed.

I only drivers I installed were the vista drivers for my video card (8800gt) and I get about 100 fps lower in counter-strike.

I do not like the taskbar its quite annoying, so is the browser (same as vista's).

So yeah and apparently my hard drive is slow as fuck according to windows rating thing. Which I noticed it has been for a long while. I wonder its going to die on me sometime soon.

Also I can't see my xp partition from win7, but I can see my win7 partition from xp.
