PS3 or XBOX360??

Hey, glad to hear you guys are finally releasing this...

I've been looking through the forums and couldn't find anything on it, so will this be released for consoles as well? I read how it will be free for anyone who has hl2 I'm just hoping that means for the ps3/360 as well.

Sorry but this statement is 100% false.

Consoles (Xbox 360 and PS3) are beginning to have mods developed.

An example of a console game that allows/has mods is: Halo 2

Your video card needs updating but IT WILL PLAY FF.

I suggest a GeForce 7950 GT.

I had same video card as you and just recently upgraded because of Bioshock.

The 7950 GT is a great card and was under $200

Other than that your system specs are 'ok' but it is getting out of date

I hope you're right...I would hate to have to upgrade my pc spending all kinds of money just to play this. Hopefully this gets released for consoles. I already have a playstation 3, and I can plug a usb mouse/keyboard into it, so it'll be no different than playing on the pc except for the bigger screen

Yeah, but is that card AGP or PCI-e? My motherboard only has AGP slots I believe =( So will upgrading the card make a big difference?

Personally my card is PCI but you can get the same card for an AGP slot.

If my memory serves me correctly, AGP is less expensive. (PCI is more expensive and better than AGP)

Upgrading your video card will make a very noticeable difference in FPS and graphics.

lol i was playing hl2 on an 800 celeron with 256 ram... i even sent my specs to valve and a vid of the game play and they said "requirements are only guidelines"

lol in other words they were stumped

to me if a game runs on lower spec than the requirements then they lied lol

and playing ff on a console would'nt really float my boat lol ... plus me thinks consoles are a bit overrated now

only games i play on a console are racing game eg NFS

VALVe doesn't have support for mods on the 360 or the PS3. Especially the 360 since Microsoft is keeping Xbox Live a closed source, and the only exception to that is Final Fantasy XI: Online.

Epic Games, however, is allowing mods for Unreal Tournament III the PlayStation 3, though you'll need the PC version to make the mod to begin with. When it comes to mods on the 360 for UT3; once again Microsoft is being a douche and isn't allowing anyone inside Xbox Live so third-party mods could be made available.

So uh, your only real options are... get it for PC regardless of specs and how the game handles, or save up and upgrade your PC and then get it for PC and enjoy it.

This is 100% false, halo 2 on the xbox/xbox 360 doesn't allow any mods. Dunno where this information came from.

I have a p4 2.5Ghz, 2GB PC2700 ram, and ATI 9800Pro and am able to play FF. Not with all the options turned up, but it's very playable (other than when everyone on my Comcast drop is seemingly d/l'ing pr0n when I'm trying to play). Lag and choppiness and fps drops can be noticeable during spamfests, but that to me is expected (I got that on TFC too). Some of that could have also been attibutable in some part to maps not being optimized, but they are vastly improved from earlier.

Well Etzell, the point in spending money on a PS3 was so I didn't spend money on a PC. If I can do the same thing on one or the other...my thought was...why buy a $500 or $600 graphic card alone when I can get a whole system for that much. (If I got a graphics card, I wouldn't get anything less than the Geforce 8800 GTX 768 MB RAM). My current system has only AGP slots on my motherboard, so in other words I would probably spend close to $2,000 on a new pc which of course would be decked out with everything amazing. Anyways, I wanted to skip that for now...I've heard Vista isn't ready yet, and if I was going to upgrade it would be to get Vista Ultimate and also to play certain games. Sorry, I just don't see putting that much into a machine to play a game. Also I'm waiting for prices to drop. If I was going to upgrade my machine, I wouldn't have got a ps3...my thought is why not get something specifically made for gaming that also has the ability to have a usb or wireless mouse/keyboard attached to it. That is what this whole post is about, whether it's worth getting for the ps3 which will play it perfectly or the computer that probably won't play it as good. Anyone have any ideas as far as which one I should go for when it comes out? An opinion on which one is better or why? If I plug a keyboard/mouse into the ps3, won't it be just like playing on a computer only the tv will be the monitor? I love the ps3 controller don't get me wrong, but I love the mouse/keyboard combo for FPS games...and I can't imagine the controller being good for that.

Wow you're right actually. I haven't played hl2 since it came out pretty much. I don't remember it running that good...at least compared to doom which is choppy as hell as soon as you see someone. That makes it even more confusing sorta...PC or PS3?
