missing explosion sprites

I was playing a game of dustbowl last night where action was going on all over the place and on multiple occasions when I blew my pipebombs as a demoman, the explosion obviously went off, but no sprites were shown whatsoever (even at close range).

I'm guessing the game was getting overwhelmed by the match somehow. Is there a way to change a variable so that I always see the explosions? (even if it does tax my system more)

Yeah, sometimes explosions just don't get drawn... I think it's part of an effort to conserve framerate but I honestly have no idea. It usually only happens to me when I've got a ton of explosions going off, and it doesn't just happen in FF - I get it in HL2 and SMOD as well.

Hmm that sounds like it could be some sort of variable, like a cachesize for them or something. I hope I can get it working, I'll have some wicked dustbowl footage then.
