Nvidia driver problem

So yeah, XP has been great, execpt for one thing:

Evey time I reboot I have to reinstall the drivers for my 8800 GT, after that it works great but it's freakin' annoying!

I'm using the 180.48 geforce winxp 32bit drivers, running XP pro updated to SP3 and as mentioned above: Asus GeForce 8800 GT 1Gb version.

I have two monitors, one DVI one VGA.

Tried uninstalling, even the "safe mode + driver cleaner" trick, nohting helps.

I looked trough my good friend google, but all I could find was problems with those drivers on Linux, so that didn't help me much...

Soo any tips?

A friend of mine just dealt with this problem as we built his computer on monday night. Apparently this issue has been happening to alot of people, but it would seem that the problem isn't on your end, it's the drivers. They're fucking up in some way, shape, or form. In the case of my friend, it wouldn't let him boot beyond the POST, and in other cases people could boot past the POST but only into safe mode.

Revert to an older version of the WHQL drivers and you should be fine. I think the 178.24 drivers are pretty stable and fine.

After installing your drivers you reboot I assume and then it works for as long as you don't reboot again?

After you reboot again your drivers disappear or what? What is it you experience/see exactly

Yeah it's a fresh install on a fresh HDD, and I AM running it as admin.

The strange thing is, as long as I keep my pc on, there is no problem...
