It really isn't a bad song. It's just old.. and never what you're trying to do.

It's hilarious how Rick Astley looks so similar to Fergesun from Clarissa Explains it All.

Wow, the Wiki article doesn't really explain it to me what rick rolling really is. The beat of the song strikes something, as well as his strange dancing moves.

Is it some kind of a movement to get people back into enjoying the 80s? Because I already have lol.

And the song is indeed catchy...uh oh, it's replaying in my mind again, already! UGHH!!!

Okay, all jokes aside.

On some forums (I think it was Gamespot), a guy posted saying that he had a new GTA4 trailer. This was back when people would suck internet dick to see even 5 seconds of new GTA4 footage.

The thing is, it wasn't a GTA4 trailer. It was Rick Astley's "Never Gonna Give You Up". Millions of people were tricked into watching it.

Now, people tend to toss in links and try to trick people into watching rickrolls. One of the less creative ways is to link to a video. The more creative ways, however, are to start a video off with the material and segue into the music video. You fool more people that way, and it's more of a surprise.

Hell, you could even get people Paintrolled.

Rickrolling has been around since 1874.

I don't mind it, except for the website dedicated to it, with Javascript pop-ups for lyrics. Just let me enjoy the song.

There's even a Doom mod where a weapon is a stereo. Guess what it plays? "Never Gonna Give You Up"! It does insane damage and can kill the last boss in say, one minute. However, it interrupts any attack so you'll be safe as long as you keep playing the music.

Seriously, wtf?

I hadn't known about it really, but I think you'd agree that the GTA4 trailer troll was what popularized it.

Yes, isn't it lovely? I'd make NoScript my wife if marrying computer Code was legal in NJ (Only in South Korea, California, and Washingston State).

Holy shit! WTF? 1874???

Damn, video gaming didn't exist back then...I guess that's how the "carpetbaggers" treated the South during the Reconstruction days. They would announce such UBER projects but "rickrolled" them into something really lame and irrelevant...

But who knows? Maybe rick rolling is predated back even further !
