Map Specific CFG Files

I asked about this in one of the tips and tricks threads, but it's been lost amongst other questions, so I'd just like to know if map specific configs are supported. If so, do you just name them after the map name (ff_well.cfg, for example) and where do they need to be placed? Are there any cvars that need to be set to make sure they are loaded?

No, but if you wanted to, it would be simple to do. Even without any GUI or exec binds cluttering your keyboard.

Make a new cfg file in your cfg directory, and save it as anything you want. Be it ff_well - anything. *Don't forget to add your specific commands here*

Then, when you load or play a map, type "exec ff_well" (or whatever you put as the name) in console without the " ".

It would seem like you could edit the file that loads the loading-background page to also load your config - just an observation I made while trying to disable those god ugly pictures :P

I had thought map configs were going to be included or that was the plan awhile back. Probably just didn't get included yet.

k I was so wrong

after looking into it for awhile, I figured it out (basically I read the console :P)

To make a cfg specific to a map:

1. Go to your FortressForever/cfg folder
2. Create a .cfg file with any map name (ie. ff_shutdown2.cfg, ff_well.cfg)
3. Put map specific commands in the config
4. Every time the map is loaded, the config will be executed

silly devs not telling us their secrets

if you still need help, just pm post

Yes, I've tried all this and I'm not getting any results. I've got a couple of binds, plus an echo statement telling me "ff_well.cfg has loaded", but I'm not even seeing this. Am I missing a cvar to enable map specific configs? I've tried with the cfgs in the map directory and in the cfg directory.

just a heads up here..

in the next patch i've added cfg/ff_dustbowl.cfg where it sets mp_timelimit to 0. this is intentional because the Lua will handle the mapchange on dustbowl.
