ff_l337sk337 (Screenshots, DLs)
Ok, I've hinted about it for long enough an now the worst idea ever for CS is slouching towards FF.

(It's for HL2M) Important edit: To get the skeet launcher to activate set 'sv_cheats 1' and enter the following into the console (or bind it to a key): ent_fire rack_door open For those that don't know, l337sk337 involves 2 teams who alternate between being skeets and being shooters. The shooters all spawn with sniper rifles in the house (shown in the screenshots) while the skeets are launched from the launcher armed only with knives. The skeets must make their way into the house and kill the shooters before they all get picked off. The house is accessable by doors that can only be opened from the outside, windows on the roof which can't be broken from the inside, and trapdoors in the floor that only open from below. The shooters are stuck inside the house untill a skeet opens a door for them. After a certain ammount of time each round an extra set of doors open on their own so the rounds don't get dragged out forever. Once everyone on one team is dead the round ends and teams switch. ff_l337sk337 is based on both awp_l337sk337 and awp_snowsk337, combining the best features of both. It has the raised hill behind the shooter house for easier landing, made easier now with a bunch of tree props you can crash (relitively) safely into, as well as a layer of water in the shooter house itself to guarantee a safe landing for flying skeets. The play area has been expanded by 60% to accomidate bunnyhopping, and I'm pretty sure there's no place to hide on top of or behind the launcher. If you're wondering, the sparks in that third shot are coming out of the 'rape launcher', which is the one part of the launcher that doesn't really work. It may be obvious from the description that this is a gameplay type more suited to CS than TF, but I think with some minor changes the map could be made to work. The most important problem is that people respawn in TF. My plan is for people who die during the round to respawn in some sort of waiting room (possibly with monitor views of the action). The other problem is with weapons. In CS you could just strip all of someones weapons and give them the ones you want them to have (like a knife or an awp). In FF it will, aparently, be possible to switch people's class with an entity. So when a round resets all the skeets will change to snipers and be stripped of all their weapons but the rifle (including the crowbar) and the skeets switched to spies with only their knife. This means of course that the skeets will be allowed to disguise as snipers which should add to the fun. Another problem is that AWPs do way more damage than uncharged rifles in TFC. I'm hoping I can use LUA to somehow crank up the rifle power to the point that it's a one hit kill. Aaaand I think finally people in TF don't drop weapons. In the CS version the shooters would drop their awp when they died, and the skeets could pick it up and wreak havoc with it. I sent a PM to Mirvin Monkey askin if this would be possible somehow in FF. He replied that, currently it seems it is but he wasn't sure if this was being left in the final release. based from the screen shots - I can conclude that it needs a good 3d sky box to make the map even better. Get that link working

OMG! In the third screenshot way back on the wall there are two tunnel lookin' things. Will I be able, in my many skeeting adventures, to enter these tunnels? Will they lead to a secret laboratory? Will I be able to procure the finest in sci-fi weaponry? Will will will woooo-oo wiii-ill yeaah wooo-ooo yeah, will.

no wonder I had to noclip out...anyways, i think you could improve the maps detail in many ways....as it is currently squared-sorrounded with grass around the place which clearly does not make sense. I do not really do not think this map would be much fun - but then again - I need to play it in the real thing. Gj

Good work, Nezumi! I never saw the CS map, but this seems like itd be fun with FF. Well done with the vegetation. I like the wall around the area, which I think is appropriate since its a 'fun' style map. Sure, the skybox could extend out some more. The sky and HDR compliment the map very well. I was running around and I saw a few things I wanted to point out since you might have missed 'em:
Are the window textures supposed to do that? :-/ Some funky lighting thing going on here, it would seem... Random blue light strip? This door would open outwards no matter which side I came at it from. Is it supposed to open? Is it supposed to open both from inside and from outside? Is it supposed to be so awkward? Yeah, I'll bust your balls about every map detail, but thats because I want this to be a quality fun map! Oh, and one more thing: Change the farking name! Call it ff_skeet or something, but ff_l337sk337 just makes me want to stab jaws |

It doesn't look too bad when looking at the screenshots with the only major issue being, as Imbrifer said, the name. It is a feckin' terrible name with all those stupid numbers used to spell one of the most annoying words on the Internet - Leet... :P

Hahaha, the name is so terrible it's one of the reasons I absolutley positively cannot change it. Besides, the name is known by people now.
Imbrifer, what about the window textures in the first shot? I'm not sure what you mean. In the second one, yea the stairs get a bit funky underwater for some reason. I might have to change the texture on them. I think that blue light strip is a bit of a cubemap reflecting sky where it shouldn't. Cubemaps generally can't be perfect so there's not much I can do. (Unless that's actually a little strip of blue lighting? Then I'm not sure what's going om) In a real version of this map, those doors open automatically after about 2 minutes so the shooters can come out of the house and finish off all the rest of the skeets so the round doesn't drag on forever. They only open on trigger and they should always open out. In this version they open whenever for easy playtesting. I should remind everyone that if they DO want to play the real thing there are often CS servers playing awp_l337sk337beta (or awp_l337sk337 which is the exact same map) and awp_snowsk337. So y'all can check this map out if you want. |

Why use the shiatty name and lose some integrity because of it? Why not have the version of this map updated for FF have some class? Make it yours, make it beautiful and make it FF. Its not like people won't play it because its not called 'l337sk337'.. but I'm sure there are people who won't play it because its got some 13-year-old 'h4x0r' name. I doubt its well known enough to have any impact. Lets start FF out on the right foot and not have this kinda carp.
/rant off In the first shot: the texture on the inside of the windows is just cut off. It's like it isn't aligned right. |

That's the point, Imbrifer. l337sk337 isn't mine, and the name is well known.
And besides, it's the most awesome name possible. Haven't you ever heard of kitsch? (Or camp. I'm not sure which is the right one ) And yea, the windows do that because I'm too lazy to make the geometry line up with the texture. |

dont bother lining up the geo to the texture, just use the "fit" thing on that face and make the tex fit it, atleast it doesnt look *as* noticeable

It is fit to the face. If I was to use the texture right the windows would be a bit smaller. I widened them because it's better for gameplay.

Btw i remeber jesse talking about lua shit.
that you can restrict weapons and give them to diffrent classes and such so if you can code in lua you can have scouts only with rocketlaunchers |

nice map, but the perimeter wall needs to be changed and the name DOES need to be changed, your reasoning doesn't really make sense... the name sucks ass, this is supposed to appeal to the tfc/ff crowd, not the cs/myg0t crowd. I say go with ff_skeet myself.
