BSP size

What's the normal size of an FF map? I'm guessing it's around 15-25 megs? I'm just wondering in terms of downloading maps and what not.

The biggest map is hunted; the latest version weighs in at 43 megs at the moment. Most maps (unmirrored) weigh in at ~10-15 megs, so the average is roughly 20-30 megs per map. The main influences on the bsp size are down to size, complexity and amount of displacements.

Raring hunted gets it down to 14 megs, so that's not too bad.

And fuckin' cubemaps.

Gotta get rid of some of the cubemaps in hunted, moooooofucka shit.

But usually the bsp is bigger before building the cubemaps. So, all the default cubemap shit is everywhere and makes it all jizz ass big.

I think hunted is around 51 mb before jizzin' on the cubemaps.

It's probably the weight of the civilian. You'd think with all the time off he is getting he'd be working out so he could run faster... but no, he just puts on a hat and lights up a smoke.

Epicenter is 14mb with cubemaps built. There's very little displacements in it despite being a medium/large map. Its 35mb with everything in the bsp, but thats compressed down to 13mb in a .rar

it can be bzipped and bzip is a great algorithm, it should bring the 50 megs down to something like 15. Fortunately (at least I believe so as I seen that) HL2 allows bzipped transfers

ff_4tron is 44 megs but it has tons of cubemaps and a lot of custom models and textures zipped into it, and it's 4 bases instead of 2.

Out of curiosity, how many cubemaps do the typical FF maps have in them?
