3d skybox

I read the tutorial on snarkpit on how to do a 3d skybox, and I can do it when its just a square with scenery around it, but when it comes to thecove (which isn't square) I can't get it to line up, mainly b/c I don't think I really understand the concept of the sky_camera. Where does it need to be in relation to the things in the skybox. I know it needs to be in it along with the skybox things, but its not lining up. Thanks

i found quite a nice way to do it, place in your map at the origin an info_target with the name skybox_origin, and place at the edges of your (where you want to see the skybox coming) also a few info_target's with the name skybox_edge, then go to the enitity report and select everything where the targetname starts with skybox_, then press ctrl+M, select scale and set the x y and z values to 0,0625 (1/16) if your skycamera is set to scale 16.

now place your selection of info_targets with skybox_origin at the same place of the sky camera, and you'll se exactly where your map edges are, so now you're able to create your skybox to fit perfectly around your map

I do exactly what stino said about putting an info_target at the origin, but usually I build the 3D skybox in full scale around my map. This way I can see what it'll look like when it's done. Then I select the info_target and everything that should be in the skybox, and shrink it down with ctrl+m.
Now wherever that info_target is is where your sky_camera should be. You can move everything that should be in the skybox around as long as it stays in the same place relitive to the sky_camera. Obviously things like props have to go in after you shrink everything.

Basically just think of the sky camera as being the origin in your 3D skybox.

ok, i got it working, but how do you keep the textures from staying their x16 scale when you scale it down to 1/16th? Texture lock is on. I heard it involves paste special but i dont understand how you can paste something in a different scale than what it was copied.

The texture scale lock button next to the texture lock button will make your textures scale down when you shrink them.
