No, I've had that unchecked. I've been doing it manually ever since I found the autoload annoying...which has been since forever.

Thats the same error message I get occasionally when launching games from steam.

either close steam and then try again, or reboot and try again.

i'm not telling you this is whats wrong...i done some light searching on your errors and it seems to be a driver problem...i'm just making a suggestion to help you out...

This error is very general and could be anything from dodgy memory (hardware) to adding some startup options to hl2dm (see earlier post) but try things suggested you never know something might work. **shrug**

You're right, never hurts to update. I see that my driver just put out an update. Thanks for reminding me to update, cuz' I don't know how long it would have taken for me to remember to check, but I tested and thats not the problem. But hey, at least my drivers are up to date.

can someone play this map and see if hl2 crashes, if it works then I atleast know its not a compiling issue. I still know it has something to do with the models though. This map runs on my computer without the 4 light fixture models I have in the map atm. Its not specifically that certain model though, cuz I've played maps with that model in it before.

if there are missing textures, dont worry about that. I didn't include them cuz I didn't think about it, but thats not the point. As long as it loads thats good enough for me.

I have come across some of these errors before, but when dealing with sprites

In my case, I would choose a sprite from the "browse" button, but when I loaded up HL2DM to test it, the game would crash. I have since figured out the crash was due to fact that Hammer does not add the extension ".spr" to end of the filepath when you browse for a sprite. Don't think I had the same problem with models, but it could be worth a try.

Make sure (if there should be one, maybe someone else can confirm this) that there is some type of extension at the end of the model's filepath (probably a .mdl)

yea its mdl, but if the path isn't right, shouldn't it not even render in Hammer?

edit: from what I've browsed through on the internet, my case is unique. Its not all models, and its only when there's more than one of the model that crashes it.

edit edit: Okay so I set one to a default prop_dynamics and it will load now. So could it be something dealing with the default prop_static?

It could also just be a freak accident. Steam is mysterious like that.

here's an example of a prop I use as prop_static. It doesn't specifically say its not a prop_static, and it works as a prop_static if I only have one.

Are you using custom compile tools? On VERC there was a guy who had the exact same problem--crashing with more than one prop_static in his map. He was using CST tools; changing back to Valve's tools fixed it: http://www.chatbear.com/unity2/4989/...7191?v=flatold

EDIT: OKAY. Can I just say one thing? I love you Crazycarl. That's like the one thing I didn't think of to check, and there I have it, it works now. Problem solved. yay.
