* The Medic can heal team members from long distances, as long as they are in sight. Furthermore, he can make himself and his patients invulnerable for 10 seconds.

TF2 ain't TFC. Suck it and see.
It could make things more or less interesting. For example, a soldier defending a choke point would be unable to stop someone jumping past him if he's constantly priming grenades as opposed to only priming when he's already pushed the attacker back. I think this change will benefit attackers over defenders, but it may well raise the prospect of people charging around and using nothing but grenades on offence until they run out of ammo. |

What grenades, defrag? If this article is correct the only class that will get frag grenades is demo.

There are less similarities than there are differences compared to TFC or QWTF so that should make it the hugest hit in the world ever. People will go mad for a shite games especially because of the 9 years of hype.

With the amount of time it takes to make a good map in Source, there will either be a lot of POS maps or a handful of good ones.

I realize that TFC, FF, and TF2 are all different games and there will be differences, and I do understand the idea to really seperate the classes... some if it makes good sense... Classes with large differences each fill specific roles, and will have to depend on each other to work as a team.
for example, TFC the medic can do what the scout does, but slower, with more firepower, armor, and heal/infect abilities. If you dont really need that extra speed boost, why play scout? but some of this is just disappointing. 10 second invulerability? line of sight healing? and why!? why!? why the teleporters!? |

Well on the whole, I'd bet all these additions more or less explain the delay in TF2s release
Can you imagine the task of balancing a game like TF where balance is absolutely crucial with the original features, let alone all these new ones? Quite the trial for Valve IMO |

IMO teleporters shouldn't be as bad in TF2 since there won't be a ton of popular custom maps already out there already. One of the major problems with teleporters was that the older maps weren't designed with them in mind and gameplay suffered because of it.

Psycnet, this version of TF2 STILL sounds more like TFC than the version they announced origianlly, so it doesn't really explain the delay.
I have to agree that it's probably good that TF2 is more different than FF than we thought. I still think TF2 isn't coming out though. I'll believe it when they announce it's gone gold. I'm glad to see they put teles back in. The only people who didn't like them where those who were so afraid of change that they couldn't see that they hardly affected the game at all (except on maps without func_nobuilds in the right spots like well, warpath and most custom maps), were nothing more than silly fun in pubs, and either almost entirely useless in matches, or could be banned by league rules. I think dumb noobs who spam grenades don't stand a chance in a fight against someone who knows how to prime and aim grenades accurately, and so removing them only removes skill and depth from the game. Making it so you can't prime and shoot makes grenades MORE spammy, as you are encouraged to get the grenade out of your had so you can go back to using your gun. Stats systems don't encourage teamwork, they encourage stat whoring (if BF2 is any indication), although I'm not sure what kind of "personalized statistics system" they have planned. I'd be SO DAMNED HAPPY to have xbox and ps3 players in the same server. Then we'd have a chance to back up all that shit we talk about controllers not being able to match mice/keyboards for FPSs. Everything else could go either way for balance, I suppose. Edit: I've played on servers with tech TFC a few times, where you could get sticky pipes with demomen. If the sticky bomb slingshot is anything like that, I'd be extatic.

TF2 is sounding better and better, I'm glad they have re-worked a lot more than previously thought.

It sounds different.. certainly interesting. I can't see these changes providing the game with a long lifetime or more depth than TFC though. We'll have to see of course.

seems kind of pointless, capturing a big shiny flag is a lot better than capturing some briefcase, why change it?
