Rollercoaster Tycoon

On a whim, I went to amazon.com and found that I can grab Rollercoaster Tycoon and both expansions for $10. My game discs were either lost or stolen, so this is a pretty sweet deal.

I then looked it up on Wikipedia, and I found that there was a Rollercoaster Tycoon 3 as well. I knew about 2, but not 3!

All three games have had two expansions, and I am anxious to add them all to my collection. I am a sucker for games like this. I recall doing such things as creating a coaster that went up to 14 lateral Gs (no one would ride it, despite it being free) and having a park that charged nothing for anything - $100 admission got you in. Apparantly, a lot of people thought $100 admission was just fine.

Who else here loves these games, and how faithful are 2 and 3 to the original? Are they better or worse?

Meh, Roller Coaster Tycoon 2 is the same as the first and the 3rd one is 3d and quite stupid.

I remember on the first one i was making roller coaster to kill people.

ive played them all. 2 is just like 1 so not worth it imo. 3 is quite intresting because its 3D, although it makes constructing a coaster a lot harder :X. Still if you like these type of games im sure ull prob enjoy the 3rd one

Roller Coaster Tycoon 1 = amazing, has lots of character.

Roller Coaster Tycoon 2 = okay, improved construction abilities, less character.

Roller Coaster Tycoon 3 = greater improvements on graphics and construction abilities, no character, gets boring quick; major problem 1: balloons do not have strings! major problem 2: people cannot die!

CONCLUSION: ROLDLER COASTERTYCOON 1 IS the BEST

Wow, you guys saved me a load of trouble. I will probably try them out eventually, but now I am in no particular rush. I never beat the last game entirely anyway.

I think 3 ruined it by becoming a full 3D environment.

on RCT 3, no, you can't kill people.

I remember in RCT2, where I had full thumbs up park with nearly infinite money. Then my bobsled coaster veered off track (WTF???? It was doing so fine, too!) and my park's rating went down by half. In the next few years, I lost tons of money.

Yeah, the first one with the added attractions and loopy landscapes add ons was most enjoyable. Never bothered with 2 and 3 after that.

I only played 1 + the extention.

I had a kickass park untill my pc decided to go tits up on RCT and I coudn't reinstall, I still have that cd somewhere, maybe I should try it again since I have a new pc (XP emulation FTW!)

Love how the people look at the ride where the seats fly up (not the one with magnetic brakes) and it's only like, 2 feet high and they still enter the ride
