RPG/IC skin

Well I had a great idea for the pyro's IC, add the nose-art from an A-10 to distinguish it from the RPG... and after hours and hours of fooling around with tons of programs supposedly useable to create source models couldnt edit the model at all.

So I converted the RPG texture, and photoshopped it how I liked it... but it replaces the IC and the RPG because they use the same texture.






If someone could figure out how to make the IC model look to a different location for it's texture that would be sweet, but for now if you want this it will show up for both.

Download the following and place them in your fortressforever/materials/models/weapons/rpg folder. Back up your originals just in case.

http://members.cox.net/fishburger/v_rpg.vtf Firstperson viewmodel. see it in your arms.
http://members.cox.net/fishburger/w_rpg.vtf World model. see it when others use it.

http://members.cox.net/fishburger/v_rpg_hud.vtf Replaces the ammo counter with flaming scull icon. Also replaces RPG counter, so if you use that in game, dont use this.

The RPG and IC have different (but identical) models and modelnames, but they both use the same texture.

Hmm.. you should be able to decompile the model, change the $materials (?) line in the .qc file, and then recompile for it to use it's own skin. But since there seem to be developments regarding the IC in the current beta, maybe it's not worth the effort..

It'd be cool to have some dev input on this (since the goddamn beta testers won't spill the beans! ).

nodnarb already scooped this one. There is a new model and it's great.

That being said. I like fishBurger's work and I'm glad he made an IC. It's an active community, and members like fB, that will make FF totally kick ass.

well, I was refraining from commenting, cuz the new IC was supposed to be my little surprise to the community... but I guess the cat is outta the bag now.


Yes, in the 2.0 release, the IC is infact a serperate model. At the moment, its a modified RPG remodel and skin. We removed the rocket loader, and the little scope thing, recolored and retextured it.


Hopefully when things slow down a bit, we'll get a proper model made for the IC.

I gave as little detail as possible. I just didn't want ppl to put a lot of effort into using/making diff IC models till after the patch.
