99% of the time will you ever find someone to go straight into pickups after not being satisfied from pub gaming. They will most likely leave and either A) come back at later time and give it another shot, or B) consider the mod a waste of time and move on to better things. Also, The really only active server around (via US), O-T is actually pretty well structured. And most new players that do show up get an idea of whats going on pretty quickly. They always keep the teams even and show guidance when necessary for game modes. And there's always a mix of good players and newer ones. But I'm assuming you're banned from O-T yes? More lack of knowledge simply because you haven't experienced it. I wouldn't of expected you to know that, no offense. So yes there is structure in Pub Servers, Elitist don't ruin the game -- they make it better, and pickups are fine. We like a more organized concept of the game sometimes. No one is forced to go there after disliking the pub servers. Pickups should have no say it representation in the first place lol.. FF_Politics_b1 plox. |

In a formal sense, the word Elitist refers to someone who wants to run something or does run something as part of an Elite group. This says nothing about how they would or do run things, though. However, the informal or colloquial definition specifically defines it as someone who wants to run something or does run something as part of an Elite group in a negative or malicious way. Considering I'm not writing a letter to a peer review fuckin' journal, it should be obvious that I am using the informal definition. It's not my fault you are arguing within the wrong context or using the wrong definition. So, get up to speed. Quote:

Yes you need dev approval to alter the maps. If everyone was changing the maps it would be a nightmare syncing them.
Bridget, why not come up with set of rules for the gameplay structure? If you already have, can you link me to them? |

Game start Time runs out show scoreboard switch teams etc??? How would you expect it to run? Would this only work on small 8 player servers so it's fixed OvD? I'm not entirely clear on your idea... did you explain it somewhere in detail a few months back? |

We're not talking about altering the maps, just the LUA. I don't think a "server specific" LUA would adversely affect things. In fact, it may help improve how newer players learn how to play the game.

I think that looks pretty good.
Bridget, what do you think? Anyone else, feel free to chime in as well... Serious suggestions welcome.

I'm late to the thread, but a universal system like that would be a great idea. Not only would it unite players' experiences but it would also give a lot of map makers some control over the type of games they would like to have played. I also think this would attract a lot of different people to starting the game up since now there's a choice.

I have a LUA book on order so I want to get cracking on it next week, hopefully. Work is ridiculous. I love when co-workers go on vacation for a week. I've been pulling 10 hour shifts for the past 2 weeks straight. Anyone who works that long knows it's bullshit.

My last day off of work was a month ago. I'm currently topping 50 hours a week, but in a couple of weeks, that's going to shoot to 70 or more.
That's ok... I still have a little time to sleep.

He means when things slow back down, and you're not working as much. My work has busy seasons(as I'm sure everyone does), and we're hitting our stride for being busy. It'll last until June or so... then I'll have time on my hands again until Aug/Sept.

Dropped / Connection Lost So what happens when a player disconnects, has to leave or goes afk? Are they subbed permanently? Or until they return? Can FF be paused mid-game until a sub is found? (I dont think it is?, but if that could be implemented like in TFC, that would be useful) Map Voting/Selection I didnt see that part in there. Admining/Votekick Will there have to be someone with RCON to initiate(admin) this? If not, what happens if someone is purposely ruining the game? (TK'ing, Playing scout defense, etc) Will there be a votekick system?
