Help with computer performance / games through steam.

I've been playing Global Agenda recently, and it keeps crashing on me, I am guessing it is due to how much RAM it uses.

I have 3GB of physical RAM, and windows 7 on its own uses around 1.3GB which seems a lot, and whenever I run Global Agenda and Steam which it needs and I check how much RAM is being used, it usually reads about 3.6GB :/ Strangely.

The game uses between 1GB and 1.7GB of ram at any one time, and it can crash at any moment, usually when I'm trying to do multiple things at once, like jetpack and shoot, but sometimes just in combat or loading a new area it crashes to windows. I've tried reducing the resolution and graphics and the RAM usage hardly changes atall.

So, basically, I'm asking for assistance with any Steam commands that could help with a game that is running through Steam, or any programs that could strip windows down before a game so it uses little RAM, so Global Agenda could have maybe up to 2GB of Physical RAM to roam around in.

I use Game Booster, but it doesn't do much.

Any help is appreciated.

Update:

I've looked at some guides and tweaked windows, disabled lots of startup programs and services, so now windows 7 uses about 1.15GB of ram doing nothing.

And I've just got Game Booster Premium 2, which is apparently much better than the free version.

Any help with Steam or any extra help would be appreciated.

Buy more RAM.

Seriously... I bumped my system up to 8gb when Circuit City went out of business. Especially if you are running Windows7 64 bit.

I'm only running 32 bit Windows 7 currently.

I've been unemployed since February and I've only just managed to get a job today actually, and I start with only two shifts next week and I won't get many hours until a month or two down the line, so I don't have very much money atall.

I need to help pay rent and bills with what I do get, and I buy my own food and such. So sadly I don't have the money to buy things for my PC currently. And I haven't bought anything for my PC since late last year, and that was a computer case..., actual components, it has been over a year.

So I need to make do with what I have at the moment, which is a slightly outdated computer. And it still manages to play all games on high graphics, but Global Agenda is causing problems.

As far as demanding games go, I have played much more intense MMORPG games than Global Agenda with no problems whatsoever. It seems to be a game that hasn't been optimized to make the most of resources and use them well, so instead it eats through computer resources.

Aside from buying new components which is something I plan to get round to in the future once I get some money, I would appreciate any help with this problem.
