Map size and setup

What size maps are you all shooting for? Just reading through some of the posts here and there seem to be a lot of remakes. Are you guys basically keeping the sizes the same?
IE: basically say 2forts from TFC gonna be the same in FF sizewise?

Also, stairs vs ramps. What are the pros and cons? I like stairs because I'm not a fan of BHing. But I'm concerned with things like SG placements, pipebombs, and overall mobility. What goals are you guys shooting for? What considerations should I keep in mind?

Lastly, textures. Where are some of you guys getting the red and blue textures from? Specifically the base symbols? What is the agreement on using trim from say Q3 and adding my own shaders? Is that public domain yet?

stairs ALWAYS look better than ramps...Im remaking ejg2_hunted. For the most part Im keeping the sizes based on the CT/T models in CSS. I figure in the end the characters will be around th esame size. Maybe the HW will have to suck it in, but thats cool =)

Stairs cant be more than 7 units high i believe.

BTW because i have not shown a screen of my map in some time, there is going to be a HUGE update for the map, showing the extensive work i have ut into it. Im hopping you will all like it.

stairs look better than ramps

ramps are easier to make

theres some nice textures in source to make nice looking stairs too

Thanks for the replies.

I was wondering more along the lines of map dimensions though. For example, the Well map in Wolftatics, all-be-it a beautiful map, was uber huge compared to the Well from TFC. How big of a frag area are majority of you considering for say a 8 vs 8 map?

Or more to the point , what size are the maps for FF geared to? 8 vs 8, 16 vs 16? What are the maps that are being done by the devs here sizes? And the people recreating older maps, what player sizes are you all shooting for?

I know the re-creations of maps (like 2fort and Hunted and all that jazz) are going to be similarly sized, if not exactly the same size with a few modifications thrown in here or there. I'd imagine that "Official" maps will be approx. the same size.
