I don't play scout, but I do feel that my other classes need work badly. I'll probably pop in once more info is released.

I don't see this going anywhere good...this is your one and only warning to cut it out now before it gets out of hand

Guilds are mostly for someone who has already had some experience for a particular game, that has the time and willing to put forth the effort of showing up, have decent equipment and is serious about becoming better for a certain class.
Taking the time to train someone is in fact encroaching on the instructors time. They have to deal with real life, any clans they belong to, plus the added time of running a guild. I would say its fair for them to have a selection process for those whom they feel meet certain guidelines. Not only is it fair to them, but for the other trainees and to the very ones who are not selected. It saves everyones time. The scout class, imo, is by far the most difficult class to learn, and feel that someone who is new, or not ready, should at least become skilled in other class's. In the long run that helps them become a better player overall. |

Definitely agree klute.
If I were running it I would probably do it in a level based system. Like have “masters,” mediocre recruits, and newbs…different tag for each and have the “tryout” to determine skill lvl. That way your not denying anyone the chance to participate / learn, but your also not scaring them away with the idea that they may not be good enough. Then hold classes / practices in which everyone (regardless of skill set) would be expected to participate. And break it into groups…pair up the masters with the newbs and let the mediocre guys float. Then go over specific skills and what not. People that failed to show up to 2 consecutive practices would be kicked as incentive to show up (either to help teach or to learn). Myers made a good point, I just think it also conveyed some sarcasm that wasn’t taken well.
