Editing your own posts works fine.

First Edit Gonna try and forum section. I know Mapping does not work properly. weird, was not working properly a few days ago, 1 edit was allowed that was it. EDIT: Still can't edit old post, just recent ones and by recent I mean within X mins of making it. http://3pxl.com/Picture%203.png Last edited by Ricey; 05-16-2009 at 11:07 AM. |

Well, since I can't edit AFTER 10 mins, (Stupid), I have to say this, I miss read your post in bug section, so now my question is. Why is it disabled after 10 minutes, dont' tell me you are scared of a curropted database, lawl.
Oh, and I know people who'd have valid reason for lifting it. |

There is no reason to edit after 10 minutes, other then to screw up the flow of a thread. 10 minutes is more then enough time for most people to go back and fix a mistake in spelling or grammer. These are the only reasons for editing posts after you have made them, any other reason means you've made the original post too early. "Think before you submit." is a good rule of them.
There is no setting in vbulletin to only allow "X" number of edits. Period. There is no one who has modified any setting for the duration of time people are allowed edits. Scuzzy

10 minutes is a good round number for this. I've been admin on a few forums and on everyone of them we've had to put in the edit time limit because of some of the childish stuff people have done.
For example, because one guy didn't like how he was proven wrong in his thread he went back days later and edited every one of his posts to say something else. Another guy on another forums went back and started basically deleting every post he ever made for no reason at all. He edited all of them and just put ... in each one. So the reason for having no edit after a certain time is for stuff like that, the limit of 10 minutes while not a whole lot, is more then enough time to fix a couple of spelling mistakes or what ever. |

One reason for infinite edits is for the initial post in map release/beta threads, or anyone keeping a list of something in a thread.

mods have infinite edit capabilities, and i dont think there is a mod or staff member around here who wouldnt update a map thread or something of that nature for someone else. plus, posting a new repy in that maps thread will bump it back to the top. win-win!

And you are right, its win-win when a new message is posted in a thread to bump it, cause it beings it to every ones attention. |

I rarely post in other sections other then BETA and Mapping, so yea. and I wouldn't doubt if vB.org had a MOD for allowing only 10 edits per post.Wouldn't be that hard to mod anyway. |
