Its not just "my" 40 dollars, its the $40 times X number of people that have lost interest over the years.

Its not just about "40 dollars," its a form of protest. Has no one here ever protested or boycotted a product?

If not buying a product is my way of protesting the 9 years it has taken to develop TF2, please do not mock me because of it.

Amusing images aside, this has been discussed a few dozen times already, and is just an excuse for guys like kev and the rest to tootle their agenda.

That said, if the game sucks I won't play it, but we don't know if it will suck.

I try not to be a dickheaded purist when it comes to most games, or at least not since I was 14 (see: transition from QWTF to TFC)

In summary: have an open mind, and the world is your oyster.

err, you do know the history of TF2, right?

"Okay, now that we've made TF, we're gonna make TF2 eventually..."
"As valve has hired us, we're going to make TF2 on their engine"
"Oh hey, this hl2 engine sounds neat, we're going to delay TF2 for hl2's engine, due to limitations of the hl1 engine"
"Okay, now that hl2 is out and steady, we're making TF2"

History = shit

Who cares if you feel 'jerked around' as a gamer? or 'teased' or 'letdown'

Get some real expectations for life and games won't be that important :/ (not to put too fine a point on things)

If it is eventually released and the game doesn't suck from an OPEN and STRAIGHTFORWARD standpoint, then who cares about it's history.

God, it's not like game companies owe us anything.

Sounds reasonable, developing new products is a slow business. Valve has been smart to develop the source platform and maturing it before starting TF2.
I would rather that than have teething issues with bleeding edge tech.

I am excited for both FF and TF2. I am a diehard fan of the fortress style gameplay. They only thing that worries me about TF2 is the medic class.. His weapons look like they might be weak against the opponents, and it just may not be a class that people pick as much. It will definitely be interesting to play TF2 though. I am sure they have implemented some good ideas and gameplay into this game that would make it more enjoyable.

remember their intention of the medic in TF2 was to stop him being used as the main offensive class of the team, and bring him back into a support role. if you want my honest opinion though, TF has too many very specialist classes, but to remain true it's got to be carried on forever more..

you sir overestimate the # of people who won't buy tf2 b/c of your listed reasons. people like to whine and bitch in forums and seem all dedicated to a stance like "fuck valve and how long it took - they wont get MY $$$$!" - but 99% of them still will buy it - and love it. as you will as well punky brewester. you will buy it too. and you know it.

Having each class use its own set of weapons is a way to force diversity but it wasn't very popular with DoD:S. How many of you that play DoD:S pwn n00bs with the panzershrek/bazooka class? And how many get accused of hacking/being lame for doing it? Its just a mean ass setup and I don't think it was supposed to be.

DOD is not a class game.

there are 6 different weapon layouts, but the only difference between classes is weapons, and theyre drop-and-pick-up-able, so the only real difference is sidearms/grenades/melee... Not a class game.

Good to see the FF fanbase is just as retarded as always.

If TF2 is good, I'll enjoy playing it with the intelligent people here.

If TF2 is sold separate from episode 2 - then NO I will not buy it, at least not for a very, very long time.

Sir, I am 39 years old, married to a loving wife with 4 children. I am happy and content with my life. Games are a break from the harsh reality of everyday life. When a company lies and misleads its loyal fan base, over and over again - sometimes you just have to say, I have had enough.

No NADES??....errrr TF2 just lost it for me if this is true.

What a boring game that would be.

Nades are what makes the game funny as hell.....the laugh
factor involved is why I play....the pwnage and the punishment
from NADES is the way things ought to be.

FF all the way.....NADES AND ALL!!!
