Holy shit that's cool. You know what's funny, I've been thinking for a while that the only console that could properly do FF (with it's standard controller) is the Wii. Has anyone considered a conversion for it? You could theoretically even do multi-player.

The reason I say this is the Wii is the only console that can accurately simulate mouse control. That coupled with a ton of damn buttons would be workable. A would be fire, B would be jump, C would be secondary nade, Z would be primary nade, + or - would be the right-click and duck, the D-pad could toggle weapons, 1 and 2 could be for medic and armor exclamations, and you could use the accelerometers (in the Nunchuck or Wii-mote) for ammo drops and stuff.

I still get a stiffy thinking about it.

Hell, the Super Nintendo had a mouse.

other than the coolness factor and maybe the controller there is no real reason to do this..except out of novelty.

Since just about everyone can plug their PC into a TV and HDTV it just seems "cool". But it also seems convenient since I find it awkward to lay on my couch and use the mouse/keyboard, unless I want to lean forward and kill my back. And for whatever reason the right thumbstuck on my gamepad will not work in some games.

If I didn't already fail to properly install TF on my computer I'd rather just not even bother doing this.

A friend of mine was talking about getting a card for his computer that would turn it into a USB device. That is, you could use your computer as an Xbox controller.

Basically you'd have to write a program that interprets your mouse and keyboard input and passes it on to the Xbox.

Yeah, I did actually try that for Metroid Prime 3. Unfortunately my trigger finger started really cramping up on me cause you have to fire like 500,000 times a minute in some places. I had to switch back, and I found it far easier to tap rapidly with my thumb. I can tap just fine with any finger actually, but something about curling my finger really fast kills me. Oh well, I guess that's what controller customization is for...

I don't think you can with the Wii. Even if you could, I think all of the servers have retarded mods like NeoTF that turn the game into a pseudo-RTS pile of shit.
