That's the cool part. You aren't really missing out on anything if the unlockables are just different and not blatantly better. Its like if you started out as a medic with only the medgun and had to earn the bonesaw and syringe gun. That would just blatantly allow poopsockers to run you over entirely. Is 10 seconds of constant crits better than 10 seconds of dual invincibility? It depends on the situation, your play style, and other things. I can't see one being obviously better than the other.

Kotaku has the supposed achievements for the medic

Quote:
First Do No Harm: Play a full round without killing any enemies and score the highest on a team of six or more players

Quadruple Bypass: Heal a teammate who is taking fire form four enemies at once

Group Health: Work with two other medics to deploy three simultaneous Ubercharges

Surgical Prep: Have an Ubercharge ready before the set up phase ends

Trauma Queen: Deploy three Ubercharges in less than five minutes and assist in five kills during that time

Double Blind Trial: deploy an Ubercharge within eight seconds of a nearby enemy medic deploying his

Play Doctor: In a team with no Medics, be first to switch to Medic after a teammate calls medic and heal 500 health

Triage: Deploy an Ubercharge on a teammate less than a second before they are hit by a critical explosive

Preventative Medicine: Block the enemy from capturing a control point with an Ubercharged teammate

Consultation: Assist a fellow Medic in killing five enemies in a single life

Does It Hurt When I Do This?: Kill fifty Scouts with your syringe gun

Peer Review: Kill fifty Medics with your bone saw

Big Pharma: Assist a heavy in killing thirty enemies where neither of you die

You'll Feel a Little Prick: Assist in killing four enemies with a single Ubercharge on a Scout

Autoclave: Assist in burning eight enemies with a single Ubercharge on a Pyro

Blast Assist: Assist in exploding five enemies with a single Ubercharge on a Soldier

Blunt Trauma: Assist in punching out for enemies with a single Ubercharge on a Heavy

Medical Breakthrough: Assist in destroying eight enemy Engineer buildings with a single Ubercharge on a Demoman

Midwife Crisis: Heal an Engineer as he repairs his sentry gun while it's under enemy fire

Ubi Concordia, Ibi Victoria: Assist in killing five enemies on an enemy control point in a single life

Grand Rounds: Heal two hundred teammates after they have called for Medic

Infernal Medicine: Extinguish one hundred burning teammates

Doctor Assisted Homicide: Assist in killing twenty nemeses

Placebo Effect: Kill five enemies in a single life, while having your Ubercharge ready but undeployed

Sawbones: Hit enemies with your bone saw ten times in a row without dieing or missing

Intern: Accumulate seven thousand heal points in a single life

Specialist: Accumulate ten thousand heal points in a single life

Chief of Staff: Accumulate ten million total health points

Hypocritical Oath: Kill an enemy spy that you have been healing

Medical Intervention: Save a falling teammate from dying on impact

Second Opinion: Ubercharge two teammates at once

Autopsy Report: Provide an enemy with a freeze cam shot of you taunting above their ragdoll

FYI I am a Medic: use a bone saw to kill five enemy spies who have been calling for Medic

Family Practice: Ubercharge ten of your steam community friends

House Call: Join a game that one of your friends is in and then deploy an Ubercharge on him

Bedside Manner: be healing a teammate as he achieves an achievement of his own
I somewhat doubt their veracity because some of them seem really oddly specific.

I played tf2 for about a month before i decided FF was better. I was also trying out COD4. These weapons upgrades remind me more of that. I was so confused when i first started cuz everyone had all these kick ass guns.. and i had a piece of shit. I really dont like the whole earn your weapon thing. Level the playing field.

Welp, they're real.

Looks like if you want 100% of them you are pretty much going to have to fakegame to get them as some of that stuff would only happen against a team of complete brain-damaged fools like the heavy 30-kill or punching one.

These weapons take an already terrible concept (crits) and make it even worse. And the ubercharging bonesaw? Wow.

The only non horridly overpowered weapon out of this bunch is the new syringe gun.

I assume all the other classes will be getting equally overpowered things so I guess it'll all "balance out" in the end...

Yeah, I remember the first days of BF2 when I started unlocking guns, by going up in rank, and it was not something that I would describe as cool. Having a ton of kills in one round as a helicoptor gunner....now that's cool. I don't think any video game should reward players who simply have more time on their hands...and I know there are quite a few of those. I could see if you could unlock/purchase guns within a map or round like CS.

The only way that time played should ever benefit a player is that you become more proficient at it. It's a cool bonus, that in this case is free, but it's not going to make me want to play it.

The point isn't to try and unlock them as fast as possible though. I used to do that with Xbox games. I'd try to find every time, do x thing x amount of times, ect. What happens is you get so caught up trying to get the achievements you quit having fun. You can get a lot of the current TF2 achievements by just playing and enjoying the game. Sometimes its more satisfying (to me at least) to get one when I wasn't trying for it especially now when its announced that you got it. The problem is most people aren't going to do that.

For example:

Triage: Deploy an Ubercharge on a teammate less than a second before they are hit by a critical explosive

Who wants to be the guy not getting ubered because the Medic is waiting on a crit rocket that he may or may not catch in time.

The unlockable weapons sound really cool but some of those ways to get them do not seem too useful unless someone is just playing and getting them on accident which for the majority isn't going to happen.

I'll go ahead and admit my guilt though, I'm playing Medic for awhile.

You'll Feel a Little Prick: Assist in killing four enemies with a single Ubercharge on a Scout

I can't wait to see all the medic chasing friendly scouts for this one. haha

Last but not least I do not like achievements like this:

Family Practice: Ubercharge ten of your steam community friends

I'm sure this is great for clanners but I stick to pubs. I see more mass friend invites which is obviously a way to get people to use the steam community more.

Overall I look forward to this patch I just doubt I ever get every single achievement.

Engies aren't going to build teleporter exits next to their entrances so 3 engies must be in the same place.

And how many times are 3 GOOD engis going to be in the same place? Seriously, if you're a good engi you're not going to cram into a room with 3 sg's cause one uber'd anything can take you down all at once... I hope leagues ban the use of upgraded weapons...

That is true, so it will be quite hard to get some of these achievement. And some are just stupid:

Placebo Effect: Kill five enemies in a single life, while having your Ubercharge ready but undeployed

This one you'll have to risk dying with an unused uber.

Hardly an innovative idea but still it usually makes games a little more interesting, however it won't change the fact that TF2 is god awful.

So, you're saying that the game being god awful is a FACT, are you? I mean come on.. Don't make your own opinion truth. I like the game, and just because you think the game stinks doesn't automatically mean it's right.

Stupid things to argue about: someone stating opinion as fact.

Acknowledge that it's an opinion and shut your goddamn mouth.

This shit happens all the time on maps like Dustbowl. On pubs, anyway.

That's who these achievements appeal to, you know? People in 32-player servers. I doubt Valve gives a flying shit about the leagues.
