I remember parents used to have to carry around key chains full of those damn thing while there kinds were in school and "baby sit" them all since it was before they added a "sleep/pause" option to the later ones. |

Recent.
Deleted something inside system32 when I was going through my paranoid virus hunt. Next thing I know, feels like I'm running on 16MB of RAM or less, can't use ANYTHING on the comp. And I hate to say it, but thanks Dell, for putting a backup sector on my hard drive. I reformatted after dragging all the files onto that partition. And here I am. |

i'm going to assume that by "technological" it also encompass the hand squeezing thing that's supposed to help make your hands stronger, so that you can hang on to things like plates and monkey bars;
i used to carry one of these around because my hand has poor circulation and tends to loose gripping strength if i don't exercise it; i was doing my exercise while i was doing a #2; i got up and was getting ready to clean up, but while i was turning my elbow bumped and i dropped the thing into the bowl, right on top of the pile; i didn't have the guts to go in after it, so i just flushed, cleaned up and left |

A while back (we're talking a long while), I had purchased a legitmate copy of windows xp pro, back when they were first coming out. Which means it didn't have SP1 on it.
Down the road, I bought a new harddrive, a 200 gig one. Well at some point I got a real nasty virus, we're talking couldn't change desktop display settings, locked me out of everything. So I reformatted, installed windows with the CD. Now here's where the problems come in. Windows without SP1 do not recognize harddrives greater than 120 gigs. So when the CD went to reformat it would only reformat the first 120 gigs, the other 80 were non existant. As soon as windows was installed, I'd go through all the mandatory updates, which meant SP1 installation. Once SP1 was installed my computer would recognize all 200 gigs. Problem is once SP1 was installed and the extra 80 gigs were released, I'd get the virus again. Frustrated that my format didn't wipe the virus, I formatted again... and then again... and again. Enough that I actually had to phone microsoft up and get them to give me an activation code cause I used up all my CD's. Only after 2 weeks of this trying to figure out why my computer would still have a virus did I discover that the Windows CD was not formatting the 80 gigs at all, which meant no matter how often I formatted the virus remained hidden in the hidden disk space. Once I discovered what the problem was, I got my hands on a newer Windows cd which came with SP1, which did a full format of the 200 gigs and finally after 2 weeks of a virus that kicked my ass things got sorted out. |

Ok, I have one I did a few days ago:
I installed an internal card reader on mah baby, but plugged it into the worng usb connector on the MOBO, so it sucked all the power out of my ethernet card and I coudn't surf anymore. I spent two hours checking my UTP cable and modem... |

A better one for me... tried to upgrade a computer from Socket A to 939, different chipset brand too, and then wondered why I was getting a BSOD.

Did I post this yet? It's kinda recent:
to get my rear speakers working, I tried everything. I installed 2 realtec sound drivers. Next thing I knew, whenever my comp tried to boot Windows, I immediately went to the BSoD. Nothing on the computer worked (the self fixing thing didn't...). I went to safe mode and deleted all my sound cards. Somehow, new, better ones installed themselves. I exited. I boot Windows. Whadda you know? It worked. X_X
