What is with all the electronic drums in the stuff you guys like?

Real drummers can do that and have it sound better but nobody likes that anymore it seems.

For example:

ETA: I like real musicians more than robot ones.

ETAA: For serious.

ETAAA: But see, shit like this is terrible.

That's because talent matters.

...that's the most retarded post evar.

A lot of new music is all synthed, but that's because a lot of new music is shit, as has always been the case. Not to mention if I'm to take it from your posts that you're a bit of a metalhead, and yet as far as I can tell all they do is play their scales very quickly, with little to no musicality actually shown.

Also that Dillinger Escape Plan video is hilarious... the sound quality is terrible, of course it's going to sound like shit. Dillinger Escape Plan is usually pretty good (Their earlier stuff is the best imo) and they usually don't sound as bad as what's in that video. It's kind of hard to judge music based on live performances, cell phone video recorders don't filter out the cacophony you get at live music events.

I'd post some stuff from their S/T but I'm afraid there's none on YouTube :<

I'm a blues guy thank you very much. And no, it's not. It's one thing to compose music (electronic drums aren't exactly the hardest thing to do ) and it's another to actually play that piece of music. You can get any machine to do anything. What you lose is feel, and that is why most modern music sucks. We're back in the 80's again. Shit has lost its soul.

But no, I don't like scale playing metal. Pantera, BLS, Tool... that's the kind of metal I like. After that it's Southern Rock, which is just a rockier version of the blues.

However, I'd rather listen to Yngwie rip up some scales than a robot doing the same thing. At least Yngwie can do things that the robot isn't programmed to do.

Edit:

a) I just assumed you were a metalhead because for some reason the internet is plagued with them

b) My point was that you rip on any kind of music, so you might as well suck it up and live with it.

Yngwie Malsteem can't keep up with a lot of modern music because some of it's just so fast. Also, producing music on a 'robot' isn't easy, as you try and make it out. Get back to me when you can use FL studio, and even DrumSynth is fairly complex. Don't kid yourself, just because computers are making the music doesn't mean it's easy by any stretch of the imagination.

Nah, I like a lot of music. I prefer music that is being played by people. The less studio that is involved (less touching up of the sound, but still making it sound good), the more I like it. All in one take is the best it can get. This is the reason I listen to Kings of Leon. They all record at the same time. Allman Brothers are another band that I dig. Both bands have a live sound without it being live while having studio quality sound.

If I had the luxury of living with my buds I'd totally be finishing my recording rig for it, but I don't .

I mean, like this:

So... do you want me to get back to you today or...? Because, you know, before I got my electronic drum kit I was using FL Studio for the drums on my backing tracks.

The idea that music creation programs are difficult to use is kind of weird. They're meant for your average dude to use. They're typically easier to use than programs like Photoshop, and almost everyone knows how to use that.

lol, to master a program like FL Studio takes years, whereas you can read a few tutorials about PS and learn it pretty easily. You're insane if you think FL Studio is easier than Photoshop.

I don't want to get in semantics, because then we will be arguing, however, there's a reason why I worded what I said carefully. Your idea that music production software is difficult is bizarre. I imagine it's because you're comparing goofing off with Photoshop with making a living using a studio designed software.

It would take me 5 minutes to make a beat in FL studio, as well as 5 minutes for me to draw a moustache on Keira Knightley. Neither is mastery. Choose your words better.

I'm amused that certain people completely rip on some people for not playing their own instruments and stand up for others.

Yes, you both are exactly correct. A toddler could make a beat with FL studio, however, using the software to the capacity at where you're making production-level music is NOT easy.

Wow sir, you are kind of missing the point, and completely misrepresenting what I said. Good job. Also, pro-tip, you still use an 'instrument' to make certain music in FL studio.
