HL1 Crashes on Boot
I'm having issues running HL1 on my PC. I'm asuming it's an OS issue, but tell me if you have any idea. I have it set to run in a window and I see the background image, but it crashes and I can never get into menus Same problems with TFC. I tried running in XP compatibility mode with no luck.
OS: Windows XP Pro 64bit Ram: 4GB Video Card: 9800 GTX Black Edition CPU: Intel Q9300 (2.5 Quad Core) Does HL1 have issues with modern hardware? Last edited by Mooga; 09-14-2008 at 06:30 PM. |

I can tell you it works with a Dual core @ 2.4 GHz, 1 GB RAM, NVidia GeForce 7900GT and WinXP (lolz dunno which V >_>)
Tried running it in fullscreen? |

Ya, no luck with fullscreen. Normally it's easier to run the older stuff in window if it doesn't workin full screen from what I've seen. It's a shame because I want to play TFC and NS.

I'm using XP Pro x64, and can run TFC without compatability modes, with no problems.
OS: WinXP Pro x64 CPU: AMD Athlon64 X2 DualCore 5000+ GFX: Nvidia 7600GT RAM: 2gb

Do you use any speshal bootup line?
is there a way to re-set boot line commands? I'm using the 177.92 beta nvidia drivers. But I had issues with the older ones too. |

No, I don't use anything special to get it to work. Just installed and played.

But, the Nvidia Driver version I use is 163.44 if that helps any.

I was pointing out that your video card was ATI and your drivers were Nvidia (A mistake, I assume), but nevermind, wasn't that funny I guess

Ya, I'm using steam.
I suposally the most recent patch to HL1 (which actually came out a few weeks back) fixes this, but the game wont even boot now... not even the background. However I might try more once I get my computer working again... |
