Why does FF run so poorly?

When I first installed FF and setup my video setting the game crashed. I had be using drivers from july 162.18 WHQL

I restarted and went on my server and was getting 20 -30 fps this was at the lowest settings of the game, max settings 10 fps and lower. And random crashes, but that turned out to be xfire issues. Which I mention here

Anyway I ran the driver cleaner as per there instructions. Then Installed the beta drivers. Went back in to FF turn the setting to the max what I normally would run at. fps went up between 65 -110
