Hmm, have you tried loading the Source SDK Base itself once? (it's under the "tools" tab in the steam browser)

Mine was working fine a couple of hours ago, then I come back and it just stops working. It freakin crashes right to my desktop. I tried reinstalling, and that didn't work.

As soon as I start the game it crashes. No errors or anything, just a black screen then back to my desktops 2 seconds later.

You can also try joining via the server browser, as this bypasses the mp3s being called.

using earlier drivers it lasts longer and the sol on cz2 is visible for a while before crashing out with a box saying "blah blah could not be read, "blah" referenced memory could not be 'read'".
Other hl2 mods are now doing this too grr, can't understand it. |

"memory can't be read" errors are usually down to physical memory (RAM sticks)
Time to run memtest on your PC. How's the internal temp of your PC. Maybe overheating. As you say it's on other HL2 stuff now, it could be hardware related. |

appears this is a common problem with no real fix.
maybe its destined I not actually play Hl2 or mods anymore, even though they worked fine yesterday. I could do something more useful with my time perhaps |
