Looks like the most hated family has to pay up.

(CNN Article) -- A federal jury in Baltimore, Maryland, Wednesday awarded $10.9 million to a father of a Marine whose funeral was picketed by members of a fundamentalist church carrying signs blaming soldiers' deaths on America's tolerance of homosexuals.

They barely have 1/10th of that money.

I doubt that they will get the ruling overturned, but they will probably get the damages reduced in an appeal. Either way, I hope they end up broke.

Free Speech isn't totally free. There are certain things you simply cannot do. Will this end up at the Supreme Court? Who can say? There's certainly alot of time that will pass between now and then.

There is a line between free speech and lack of respect. You can argue it all you want but I do not know a person in this world that would allow a group of people to come to a family member or friend's funeral and completely insult that person and be ok with it.

I really wish to know why someone hasn't burned their church to the ground or caused physical harm to them. I know it would be VERY hard for me to restrain myself in the presence of people like them.
