I gave your map a whirl and here are my thoughts.
The layout is too massive, it's simply too large and hard to navigate. Textures and shapes are overall inconsistent and to be frank, ugly. First time going for the flag I thought I was going to fall through the floor because I though't it was hovering over a pit. Sentry placement was problematic because of the scale; they could be easily destroyed simply due to their inability to lock on. The lighting is also funky. Good effort though, especially if it's your first map. |

Also, Flare, to my knowledge, was played and enjoyed in the beta and was tweaked through gameplay testing. You can't comment on the gameplay (map too big (see: Redgiant), SG problems) without playing it how it was meant to be played: in clanstyle play/a league match. |

Just want to point out that I was able to get in some spots I probably shouldn't be able to get into... check out the screenshots below. I only tested it for a couple minutes but that's what I ran into. Despite that, I'm really impressed with your work man.
I just reformatted my computer so no Photoshop to resize these right now. 1680x1050 res - about half a meg apiece. on an invisible ledge pretty high: http://www.jpwilsondesigns.com/misc/ff_flare0001.jpg above some ceiling panels: http://www.jpwilsondesigns.com/misc/ff_flare0004.jpg ...which can be seen in this picture: http://www.jpwilsondesigns.com/misc/ff_flare0006.jpg |

btw the textures are meant to be inconsistent as i'm going for this renovation theme: crisp panels to dress up an old base. As for gameplay, indeed it started out as being overall too big. Every area except for the main hall has been reworked to half its' size, and we tested it out in beta and it plays good now. You can choose where you put the fr SG but if you put it on the panel platform it can track everything. |
