How would I make a server that me and my friends can connect too.

For 4 hours last night, I was trying to get a server up. When I got one up, everyone could connect to it but I couldn't (Tried localhost, internal ip, port changes etc.) I thought it was something with srcds, so I tried to create a server button. First in the console, I added
ip 192.168.1.124
sv_lan 0
Then when I went through the create a server button It wont let me connect. It does the same thing when I tried to connect to a srcds server. Help!

Also: I can connect by my self when I leave the ip, but no one else can join. And yes, I did try joining on a friend.

in the console do:

sv_lan 0
map ff_destroy

That and making sure port 27015 is forwarded is all it takes for me. The server IP will be your public IP address.

I got it to work, but they couldn't connect due to a password. Fixed that with sv_password.Thanks for the help!
