I haven't listened to the later part but from what ekiM said I think I know how it goes. I hate listening to garbage like that. Whenever someone dies at my school or anywhere in my town it seems the one who dies is always "a friend to all, known for achieving outstanding grades and putting others before themselves and famous for their wonderful outlook on life(I suppose that is why he/she jumped in front of a train...)". Not that I have anything against the people, It feels awful to think that you saw them a few days ago and they are dead now, but all these embellished comments annoy me.

I don't think he's talking about cases of embelishment at all, more of blanket representation and assumption.

Yes yes, you're the most mature person here. So mature in fact that it's getting really annoying!

I completely agree here. If everyone in the world were to retain or were expected to retain 100% political correctness, we might as well live in bubbles or never socialize...ever.

For the fuck of christ man, say whats on your mind. Why limit communication?

There is a difference between appreciating his speech and whether or not you agree with it.

True he is good at writing and delivering speeches. His message was loud and crystal clear. However censoring speech on the basis that someone will get offended is ridiculous.

If something offends you, don't listen. One person's opinion / choice of decriptive vocabulary shouldn't ruin your day.

He wasn't talking about censorship. He was talking about people growing up and beyond the need to call people nigger, spic, retard, and the hate behind it.

^ Is why. And YMH, I ignore all other incidents with other members when going into different threads, I was making that statement purely on his posts in here.

Most of those words are just becoming commonplace. Calling something or someone "gay" or a "fag" isn't calling them homosexual, it's just becoming a generic insult.

What hate is that? I just told you that these words are becoming generic. Their OLD hateful meaning is fading and pretty much turning into generic dislike. If anything, he's probably behind his time. It's quite obvious society is fucked and if he just noticed and is rallying against it, he's a bit slow.

Not unlike his sense of fashion, ZING!

All censorship begins with arguments like this. It all begins with one joe-schmoe who thinks something is offensive to himself and thus believes it must be offensive to everyone else.

When i call my friends retard or nigger or fagget or whatever its not because i have anything against retards, niggers or faggots. Its cause the words are taboo, and the taboo gives a shock thats funny imo.

He's not talking about censorship, he's not talking about asking people to not use those words, he's not talking about outlawing speech. He's asking people to grow up. I'd ask you rewatch the video and understand the point he's making instead of reading your own beliefs into the video.

Retard.

On another note, I watched all of the speech, I can't say it will change my views really on those words.. I mainly say stuff like Nigger/retard/spic and other racist terms and shit like that because I was brought up around it, now I'M not racist, but my grandparents are and living with them for 4 months every year since a young age, you can't help but let it seep into normal conversation, accidentally. If I offend someone, I apologise but like I said its become lately just another word on the list which will lose its impact sooner or later and people will just stop using it.(Or I hope so anyway.)
