Conc maps...
Should they be converted? The most popular ones?
I have some sparetime and i would like to convert a map for FF. At first, a original map like Avanti or Dustbowl, but since they are being made already i want to convert a conc map. So, the question is, should i convert a conc map? In that case, wich one? I mean, theres alot of good conc maps out there but the only ones i like is conc_speed, conc_speed2, conc_groove and conc_2v2 (i prolly forgot some :P) Lemme hear what you think! |

create your own
all the conc maps have been conquered by many people in the community ... thats not to say that they arent fun anymore cuz they are ... but, if you have all this spare time, go ahead and create a concmap yourself (who knows maybe your conc map will be the most popular in FF) |

I know Koochy irl and i doubt he'd be very impressed (along with most of the concing community) if you converted any of his maps, conc_speed series, quad_rocket series. Along with many others.
If you do convert a conc map then try find the original maker of the map, and ask for their permission first. Or make your own, conc maps arent that hard to make dude |

It is pretty pointless to make any kind of skill map without seeing how the game is going to play. You could design one though but without seeing how the concs work it wouldn't do any good to make one all the way through.

dont convert any concmaps over plz, start new maps, cause the concing community has seen enough, if u want to play it, go play lan game on TFC, no need to make it for FF, id like to see ALOT more new maps for FF, and hopefully the mapmakers for FF can make a concmap, that has some of the *willbe* most popular concs, and each jump is just a section of each map..

I'd suggest waiting til a beta is out for making skillmaps since there is no telling that the concjump will work in the same way as in TFC and thus converting HL1 maps would be flawed.

OK as I said earlier I know koochy irl (he taught me mapping) And if anyone remakes any of the conc_speed maps, he wont be a happy chap,
ASK THE MAKERS OF THE ORIGINAL MAPS IF YOU CAN REMAKE THEM, RESPECT THEM conc_speed is one of the best newbie conc maps out there. If it works well for FF then he will remake it, Or asign someone to do it. |

Well, if you can get Tay|or's permission, it would be cool to see a remake of tayconc.

Because in the conc_speed series' case, Koochy may want to release it for FF.
He made the map, It is his map, He gains respect from the map. Go ahead if you want, you just wont be a very respected person by the greater concing community if you do. |

No need to ask, just credit and put original authors e-mail address/website. You are just taking their concept one stage further, its inspiration, not stealing, you don't even have to credit them if you don't want to.

Exactly! If anything you should be flattered someone else remade one of your maps. Thats how I see it.

Jerm is right if you want to remake original maps you must make every effort to ensure they are happy with the remake. If they are not then dont make it.
