C&C GOLD FOR FREE!!!

EA has released C&C Gold as free downloads. Both disks are ISOs, but that just makes it easier . I'm pulling 'em down so I have them when I get back from work. Maybe internet play is available? If you need any help with ISOs, post here... I'm sure we can help you with a few pointers

EDIT:
Magic Disk - For mounting ISOs
Daemon Tools - For mounting ISOs

NOTE: These are said to be XP compatible

We are providing the original Command & Conquer Gold as a free download, compatible for Windows XP! This is the same version included with the collectors pack Command & Conquer: The First Decade.....

PLEASE NOTE BEFORE DOWNLOAD:

We are providing the ISO image of C&C GOLD for both the GDI and Nod discs. In order for C&C GOLD to run on Windows XP, you will need to burn the ISO image onto a CD with a CD Burner and any "CD Burning Software" such as Nero, Alcohol, etc. There are also a few extra steps in order to make C&C GOLD run on Windows XP after you burn it to CD....

Ironic....it used to be. At least, via direct dial to your opponant.

I don't need it, though...I have the 1st Decade set, so I already have it.

IIRC the original C&C was IPX only.

If you can play it on lan and you want to play one of your friends or something you should get Hamachi, wonderfull program creates a virtual lan with NONE of the hassel when you're done using it just turn it off, simple as can be!

Yeah, EA kinda pulled C&C Golds online capabilities because they didn't want to pay for it anymore.

On the other hand, I can get older versions of C&C to work on XP. If I remember how to do it.

They passed the old RA2 servers to the fan community.
As for running the older version: why not use something like dos box?

The only RTS games I like are warcraft and starcraft, But I can imagine this is good news for many gamers.

But those are not the CnC Gold and RA1 servers, are they?

As for getting certain versions to run, I can get the windows 95 version to run, but not the DOS version. I guess they could just do what you suggested.
