LittleBigPlanet?
Anyone played it yet? Reading Penny Arcade has piqued my interested to say the least.

I'm interested in the game as well, but I have no PS3.

I think it's been overhyped to the same level of Spore, resulting in people actually figuring out that the game isn't going to be nearly as fun, intuitive, or creative as they first imagined it would be.

Much like how most people are with Garrys Mod. Much like how most people are with Spore.

I can't agree with you saying most people drop Garry's Mod after playing it for a few weeks, I see 1100+ servers and a hundred, at least, with people playing. There's a fuckload of people who just like to play around without any specific goal, take the Sims fanatics out there, lol.

People who love to fuck around will do so regardless of game. Making a game specifically for fucking around doesn't exactly make anything worthwhile. Note: Spore. Yeah, lots of people play that still. Garrys Mod. Lets talk about that. Your average person who picks up the game (me) thinks it's awesome that you can do some awesome stuff in it. Once they realize that it's either too tedious or too easy to do, it doesn't become fun. Take Second Life. Lots of people play it. Is it even considered good or successful? No. Not at all. All there is to do in that game is fuck around endlessly. Same thing will happen here. Women will pick up the game because they think it's cute. Guys will pick it up because they think they'll enjoy being creative. Some will continue playing after the first two weeks. Most will say "Eh." Just like Spore. Just like The Sims. Just like Garry's Mod. Just like Second Life.

Your average gamer doesn't enjoy casual, sadly. LBP is just that. It will sell well, just like everything else on the planet that is casual, but it's not holding many peoples interest for long.

What he said isn't even a matter of liking different games - there's just a notable fall off of original, imaginative material as a game gets older.
Maybe he's right, I dunno. LBP looks like it has a lot to offer, though, so I'm holding out some hope for it.

Most people say "Eh" to any game that doesn't fit to what they want to play. That trend follows any, not just sandbox games.
But besides the drivel, has anyone actually played the beta? |
