People!

Lets go on an advertising spree! Lets get this game known!

I work at RIM, and its like geek central here. I fired off an email to like 20 people who I know all have Steam, with a link to FF, none of them had heard of FF, but most had pubbed TFC way back when, and some even QTF.

A good majority of us are logging on tonight to start pubbing, if all goes well I'll be reting us a server and handing out admin to the guys.

So... What have YOU done to grow the FF community?

But that's good news indeed. As for me, the moment I was re-united with the e0, I took over as an officer and lead the way to getting this clan back on track. We now have a server, working on a website, that will contain tutorials and events for newer and elitist players. My next goal is to help maintain an optimistic environment here in the forums, while catching the eye of newer players, and teaching them the skills I've learned. As far as advertisement, I'm still going to set up a meeting to see the possibilities of promoting this game.

I plan on having many illegitimate children which will play FF in search of connecting with their long lost father, the only name they have being "MonoXide".

I'm looking to help admin some OvD servers to help noobs transition into a more competitive gameplay. If you get a server going, let me know, I'll help out all I can.

Well we already have The Phat Farm [OvD Style] server, but when it gets more than about 4-6 players on it, it turns into a regular pub game.
The server already has quite a bit of class restrictions causing the blue team to only play offensive classes and causing the red team to only play defensive classes, but that still doesn't seem to stop the regular pub players of FF..
Maybe some more modding, and restricting Pyro entirely.
Also adding messages that come up maybe if a blue player is spending too much time in his own base?
Not sure if that's even possible, maybe just have the console messages come up every once in awhile saying like "Type !help to get a list of the game rules if you are confused." Where typing !help will bring up a screen in your main menu explaining the rules of OvD and how it is played?

Or just put in server messages/MOTDs, like in TFC (and crudely in TF2).

Maybe even have a option in the main menu to read a tutorial about different classes and game types! Should be pretty simple to get that in.

Just need an active team of admins to manage and enforce the rules, kindly. That's how it was in TFC OvD servers.

plz don't i mean rly calling ppl noobs for playing certain classes isn't something we need to spread the word about. I know some classes are annoying i do agree, but you just don't do that in a vid you want to advertise.

One of the problems that I see is that there is little to no talk about FF outside of this forum.

I try to talk about FF when I can, such as this blog post on graphics where Left 4 Dead is compared to Fortress Forever.

If you want people to know about this game, the players need to venture out to the gaming forums, post videos, screen shots and other information.

I got one of the members of my forum to try FF and he loves it.

The community are growing slowly, public servers aren´t empties, league starting soon, there are more clans, more pickups, but we need steam help. They must promote the game on steam if no we ll have a lot of problems to get a big community.

We must write them a letter/email. Good date to promote the game with steam is on Christmas, but not sure if this is posible.
